Burglary Arrest in Heathgate – Sunflower in Tamarac

This morning (Monday, February 27th), an alert Tamarac resident of The Heathgate – Sunflower community observed a suspect smash a window of their neighbor’s home.

The resident immediately called 911 & BSO Tamarac deputies quickly responded with K-9 & aviation. The suspect was located & arrested moments later.

Remember to always be a nosy neighbor when it comes to suspicious activity.   Do not hesitate to dial 911. Crime is up in Broward County and these criminals are looking to get in and out of your home quickly.

Remember to ALWAYS answer your door or acknowledge you are home when someone comes to your door.   Many times criminals will knock first to see if someone is home first before they go to the rear of the home and break in.   Never ignore the door because you don’t want someone to think you are not home.  This is a big mistake.

Don’t let your guard down yet. Yesterday afternoon my home was burglarized in Mainland 7. The sliding glass door was smashed and they just walked in.

Tamarac isn’t a safe to live in anymore. Tamarac is a place from, if the thieving politicos don’t get you…

Tamarac (sunflower/heathgate) is not safe anymore and it used to be, only a few years ago.

Along with the major change in demographics that occurred in the last few years, crime has shot up and the neighborhood is generally looking more run down. People don’t care how their front yard looks, they leave trash in the grass, park junk cars in the lawn and don’t keep up the properties. Meanwhile the city inspectors only seem to notice if your air conditioner is visible from the street or if your driveway blacktop has faded a bit.

I for one, am looking to move asap.

I feel the same. In a few years it will be all black and run down just like Lauderhill.

  • I’m so sorry to hear! Did anyone see anything yesterday? It’s not just Tamarac…this is everywhere. These thieves are looking for small items like gold.

      Thanks Sharon,

They took a laptop electronics & jewelry. With the golf course being closed the burglars can spend all day in the back yard and no one will ever see them.
