Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through August 17.
Animal Bite
8000 block of NW 96th Ter – Coral Vista
On August 15, an unleashed pit bull attacked while a person was walking through the apartment complex.
Auto Theft
4900 block of NW 55th Pl – Manor Parc
On August 12, a 2019 Gray Nissan Rogue was stolen from outside the residence. Keys were left inside the vehicle along with a red golf bag containing Nike clubs.
40 block of Spinning Wheel Ln – The Commons
On August 13, a 2013 gray Infinity was stolen.
8300 block of Sands Point Blvd – Sands Point
On August 14, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle from the parking lot of his apartment complex overnight.
7700 block of W McNab Rd – Concord Village
On August 15, a green 2000 Honda Civic was taken from outside the building.
Battery
4900 block of N State Road 7
On August 13, the victim advised she was involved in an altercation with her boyfriend.
3800 W Commercial Blvd – La Quinta
On August 14, a male was allegedly struck in the face by his girlfriend’s mother. She denied the allegations. Misdemeanor filing instructions were given to the victim.
4010 block of Lakeside Dr
On August 15, a husband and wife were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical. After the probable cause was developed for the wife. The husband obstructed her arrest by pulling her away from BSO. The husband was transported to the main jail for obstruction without incident. An out of custody probable cause for domestic battery was generated for the wife.
6500 block of NW 70th Ave – Tamarac Pointe
On August 15, BSO was called for dating violence. Both parties gave conflicting statements.
Burglary Conveyance
5700 block of NW 50th Ter
On August 11, a 2017 blue Honda Accord was burglarized. $100 was stolen out of the middle console.
810 block of NE 49th St
On August 11, the victim reported a burglary to his vehicle. The vehicle was locked, and its window smashed through. The owner did not report anything taken from inside the vehicle. Unknown suspect(s) at this time.
4800 block of NW 55th Pl Manor Parc
On August 12, an unknown suspect attempted to gain entry into multiple vehicles by pulling the door handles. The suspect gained entry into at least one vehicle and fled on foot. K9 and Aviation responded.
7000 block of N University Dr
On August 12, unknown person(s) unlawfully entered the victim’s Ford F-150 via the front passenger door. Two cellphones and the victim’s car key were taken. No signs of forced entry were noticed, no surveillance available.
6800 block of NW 75th Ct
On August 13, an unknown person(s) unlawfully entered the victim’s Ford Escape. A small leather wallet containing several restaurant gift cards were taken, along with several personalized face mask. No signs of forced entry were noticed, no surveillance available.
Burglary of a Residence
6600 block of NW 71st St
On August 11, a home was broken into through the master bathroom jalousie window. The house was ransacked, and multiple electronic items were stolen
Criminal Mischief
5700 block of NW 60th Ave – Woodland Meadows
On August 13, following a verbal argument, the subject purposefully punched the victim’s computer, knocking it to the floor where it shattered into pieces.
4900 block of E Sabal Palm Blvd
On August 14, a woman stated that she believes her ex-boyfriend, vandalized her vehicle between August 14 and August 15. It appeared the suspect shot the vehicle multiple times with a paintball gun. Unknown if any permanent damage was caused at this time.
Domestic Disturbance
8300 block of W Commercial Blvd
On August 14, a male and female drove down from Georgia because the female was going to get an abortion, and they had an argument. Based on the officer’s investigation, they found it to be a verbal argument. Both parties left the area. The male was trespassed from the hotel.
Fire
8200 block of NW 74th Terr,
On August 15, a Honda Civic was found abandoned and engulfed in flames at the above location.
Fraud
8199 N University Dr – Walgreens
On August 11, the victim’s card was used to purchase at Walgreens by unknown suspect(s).
7000 block of NW 107th Ave
On August 11, the victim advised that he was given fraudulent information and scammed out of $600.
7100 block of Ashmont Cir – Ashmont
On August 14, an elderly female was scammed into purchasing gift cards and sending the corresponding numbers to unknown suspects.
Information
7400 block N University Dr,
On August 12, the reporting person stated that a former employee is acting as a current employed receptionist and using his information to get prescribed medication under business DEA number.
Property Damage
4100 block of Lakeside Dr
On August 14, the victim reported her bedroom window was broken by a known person.
Theft
7900 block of NW 60th St
On August 11, the victim reported her son possibly stole her laptop computer, vehicle key, and a prescription for Oxycodone. She stated she wanted to prosecute, and her son is currently on probation for fraud.
9500 block of NW 65th St – SpyGlass
On June 6 and reported on August 13, BSO responded about a delayed theft of money and prescribed medication that had occurred by a former friend/maid.

Schaeffer, Alan Lance (W M, 53) was arrested on charges of Battery-commit Domestic Battery By Strangulation at 8400 Lagos De Campo Blvd, Tamarac, on 08/11/2020.
Degroff, Anita Louise (W F, 58) was arrested on charges of Violation of Probation and Possession Methamphetamine at 4631 Nw 31st Ave, Tamarac, on 08/11/2020.
Cabral, Leonardo John (W M, 47) was arrested on charges of Grand Theft Third Degree at 8214 Prestige Commons Dr, Tamarac, on 08/12/2020.
Lewin, Jonathan Hugh (B M, 31) was arrested on charges of Damage Prop-crim Misch-over 200 Dols Under 1000 Dols at 5760 Nw 60th Av, Tamarac, on 08/13/2020.
Cooper, Janett (B F, 60) was arrested on charges of Felony Violation of Probation Warrant/Grand Theft – No Bond at 7050 N University Dr, Tamarac, on 08/14/2020.
Galeas, Karen (W F, 36) was arrested on charges Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol at 4014 Lakeside Dr, Tamarac, on 08/15/2020.
Castillo, Cesar Agusto (W M, 37) was arrested on charges of Resist Officer-obstruct Wo Violence, at 4014 Lakeside Dr, Tamarac, on 08/15/2020.
