A 90-year-old man died from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle crash in Tamarac on December 15.

According to detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit, Andres Munoz, 90, of Tamarac, was driving a 2015 Nissan Versa west on West McNab Road shortly before 12:27 p.m.

Munoz entered the designated left turn lane with the intention of traveling southbound on Westwood Boulevard and proceeded across the eastbound lanes, investigators said.

At the same time, the male driver of a 2022 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound in the far-right lane of West McNab Road, approaching the intersection of Westwood Boulevard. According to detectives, the front of the Toyota struck the passenger side of the Nissan in a t-bone-type collision in the intersection.

The Nissan rotated clockwise and rolled backward into the swale on the southeast corner of the intersection, according to BSO. The Toyota was redirected southeast and came to a rest near the area of the collision.

Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Paramedics rushed the driver of the Toyota to a local hospital with injuries listed as not life-threatening, and the driver was later released. His name was not made public.

Fire Rescue personnel also rushed Munoz to a local hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead on December 16, according to BSO.

Detectives’ investigation into the crash is ongoing.
