A Tamarac man was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felony battery after punching a woman in the face multiple times and threatening a good Samaritan with a knife who attempted to intervene.
On January 14, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to a battery call at the Lakeside Plaza located at 5425 State Road 7. When the deputies arrived, they encountered two victims who claimed a man, later identified as Jeremy Watts, 31, had assaulted one of them and threatened another with a knife.
According to the report, one of the victims, a woman who dated Watts in the past, told deputies she was walking behind the Fiesta Food Mart when Watts confronted her. The victim said a verbal argument turned physical, and eventually, Watts punched her in the face and forced her to the ground.
The victim alleged she attempted to get up and run away, but Watts grabbed her by her shirt, threw her back on the ground, and punched her in the face two additional times.
Deputies interviewed the second victim separately, who confirmed the series of events. She added she witnessed the attack and tried to interject by picking up a stick and yelling at Watts. She told deputies this enraged Watts, and he responded by taking a knife out of his front pocket, pointing it at her, and said, “I’m going to cut you, bitch.”
After conducting interviews, deputies located Watts in front of the Sunrise Liquor Store located at 5221 State Road 7. Officers took him into custody and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail without incident. He is currently being held at the Joseph V. Conte Facility.
