In an effort to help reduce the cat overpopulation problem, six animal shelters that are part of the Southeast Florida Spay/Neuter Coalition, including Broward County Animal Care and Adoption, will host their third annual “Beat the Heat Spay/Neuter Week.” The event takes place January 6-10 and is for felines eight weeks of age or older who are free-roaming, feral or lucky enough to have a home. The goal of the group is to collectively sterilize 1,400 cats during this five-day period.

The reduced cost will be just $15 per cat and includes spay/neuter, rabies and Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVRCP) vaccinations. Owned cats, as well as community/feral cats, are included in this offer. Appointments are necessary and residents of Tamarac, Lauderhill and anywhere else in Broward, Miami-Dade or Palm Beach counties may participate.

Appointments should be made by calling the shelter nearest you. All appointments are on a first come, first served basis, and space is limited.
