The application window will soon open for the City of Tamarac’s Small Business Stabilization Grant program which offers $5,000 for eligible small businesses financially impacted by COVID-19.
The city, which is utilizing CARES Act emergency funds to support this grant program, will accept grant applications from August 24 – August 28 at Tamarac.org/EconomicDevelopment.
Mayor Michelle J. Gomez said the city’s small businesses are the backbone of the local economy; unfortunately, many are suffering.
“These grants will provide some financial relief and ease the burden as they follow COVID-related health guidelines and capacity restrictions that keep the community safe,” she said.
Other city initiatives to assist local businesses include the Tamarac Together: Support Local Business campaign, launched in partnership with the Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. It encourages residents to buy goods and services from Tamarac-based businesses, which can be done safely when everyone follows the guidelines outlined in local Emergency Orders, including facial coverings and social distancing.
Also, the city has enacted several business assistance emergency provisions during the pandemic, such as temporarily allowing additional commercial signage for local businesses and outdoor seating at restaurants.
The city also eased certain restrictions on established Tamarac businesses using food trucks during the pandemic. Businesses must apply to take advantage of these provisions at Tamarac.org/368/Planning-and-Zoning.
