Broward Activists Gather for a “Tax Day Rally” in Sunrise

Activists across Broward County met on the corner of University and Sunrise Boulevard for a “Three Stooges Tax Day Rally”. However, the stooges they were protesting had nothing to do with the current movie out in theaters. The stooges these teachers, parents, activists, labor groups, and concerned middle class Floridians were protesting about were: Rick Scott, Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio.

The School Board race for District 4 will have a competitive season now that six candidates have filed to run in the open seat. More candidates have filed to run in District 4 race than for any other school board race in the county. There may seem to be a lot of candidates, however, during this time in 2010, there were seven candidates, with only six made it past qualifying.

Here’s a closer look at one of our more unusual residents; Sidney the Sphynx cat.

Sphynx cats are a rare breed of cat with extremely little fur, or at most short fuzz over its body, and no whiskers. They are very affectionate and extroverted and like to cuddle with their humans, other humans, and each other. Sidney Baxter is owned by residents Eddie and Debbie Toro of Tamarac who purchased her from a breeder in Midlothian, Virginia back in 2003.
