Bealls Outlet Opens Their Doors in Tamarac

The new Bealls Outlet has opened its first Tamarac location at the Midway Shopping plaza.

The 19,000 square foot store in the location once occupied by Petco, opened its doors for business on Monday a little longer than their anticipated opening date at the end of October.

“With all of our young families moving to Tamarac, this gives them another reason to shop and keep their money in our City,” said Peter Mason Executive Director of the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce. “Shoppers at the Bealls Outlet will also have the convenience of utilizing other businesses in the Midway Plaza as well.”

As part of their corporate plan, Bealls is moving their outlet stores out of smaller locations that were 8,000 to 12,000 square feet and into larger locations like the storefront in Tamarac. They’ll be hiring too.  Although the manager and assistant store manager will be promoted internally, they’ll be hiring 12 new associates, a stock person along with three supervisors.

This year, Bealls is celebrating their 100th anniversary. In 1915, the chain was started by 22-year-old Robert M. Beall Sr. who opened a dry goods store in Bradenton, Florida.  Bealls Outlet was launched in 1987 in response to the growth of off-price retail, and caught on rapidly. According to Webster, there are 450 Bealls Outlet stores in 16 states around the country.

Unlike the Bealls stores which are typically found in shopping malls, Bill Webster, Director of Public and Government Affairs said that Bealls Outlet has a completely different buying office along with a different business model to offer everyday low prices that are comparable to a TJ Max and Marshalls.

“The major difference between us and our competitors is that we are headquartered in Bradenton, Florida and we understand Florida and the Florida seasons. We may show fall colors, but the fabrics won’t be the kind that you can’t wear. “

Webster said that at the Tamarac location, there will be a big market for ladies, juniors, kids, and young men, “Shoes are going to be a major thrust of this store,” he added.

“We’re much more branded than our competitors, but will price complete with anyone.  We have opportunistic buys.  Our buyer goes to New York continuously looking for deals and we also have an office in Los Angeles that picks up new looks.”

Bealls offers special savings with their One Card loyalty discount program where every Monday shoppers 50 and over get 15 percent off.  Then on Friday those that are 49 and younger will get 15 percent off.
