In the last few weeks, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted the world. Our lives have changed in ways we could never have imagined.

Please continue to take precautions to protect yourself, family, and friends.  Remember, the best defense is to wash or sanitize your hands on a regular basis and to social distance from others as we bend the curve. By working together, we are all making a difference.

From our first responders and healthcare professionals to the grocery store clerk, I cannot thank you enough for your service in this time of crisis.  Please make sure to follow updates from Broward County at Broward.org/Coronavirus, the Florida Department of Health at Broward.floridahealth.gov, and the Centers for Disease Control at cdc.gov.

I will continue to share all pertinent information as it becomes available.

I would also like to recognize all members of our community as we fight COVID-19.   Whether you’re a student, a senior, or somewhere in between your cooperation in the fight against Coronavirus is needed. This is an unprecedented time, and everyone has been affected in different ways.

If you are experiencing financial hardship due to the crisis, help is on the way. The Federal Government has passed expanded unemployment benefits and will be sending stimulus checks this month to taxpayers to help. If you have questions about benefits, please contact the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and visit irs.gov for further information on stimulus payments.

On a lighter note, April is Earth Month. While most parks are closed to the public, I encourage you to spend time outdoors, whether it be walking, biking, or working in the garden. Outdoor activities and exercise are paramount to both physical and mental health. During this time you may be looking for ways to stay connected with loved ones. Utilizing technology such as FaceTime and Zoom with loved ones is a great way to stay connected while also practicing social distancing.

Finally, in the month of April families in our community will celebrate Easter, Passover, and Ramadan. While we may not be able to observe in person, I hope that you will be able to view remotely with your local house of worship. For any holiday your family observes, I hope that you have a meaningful observance that fulfills your spirit and the ones you love.

Staying connected with the residents of District 3 is a top priority for me. Every month, we hold office hours on the third Wednesday. I can be reached at MUdine@Broward.org or (954) 357-7003.
