The County Commission has reviewed and passed the upcoming year’s county budget.
In the new budget, Broward County stood firm on its commitment to keep tax rates low and did not increase any taxes on residents.
As your County Commissioner, my focus is making sure that we continue to emphasize the best technology upgrades for our emergency services system, funding for programming at libraries and parks, supporting our Cultural Division and public art, Emergency Rental Assistance Programs, and assisting our cities with projects in Northwest Broward.
Broward must continue to focus on these areas while being fiscally responsible. I will continue to make sure that this budget is implemented in the best way to serve all in our community.
Fall is in the air! From Octoberfest celebrations to Halloween festivities, there is something for everyone. As the weather cools down, take advantage of exploring all the parks and natural wonders our community offers. Water Matters Day is back and better than ever! On October 16, come out to Tree Tops Parks and check out all the resources on water conservation, native landscapes, and sustainability. Be sure to pick up a free tree at the event to plant at your own home. Broward County values protecting the environment and creating an environmentally sustainable future for our community. Broward Parks is hosting thrills and chills at parks throughout the county. For the little ones, events include arts and crafts or an early evening nature exploration tour. Older kids will have the opportunity to learn about animals and insects like bats and spiders. In the evening, they will host events for adults interested in checking out the “spooky” trails in our parks and nature centers. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 12.9% of women will develop breast cancer during their life, and it also can affect men as well. Everyone knows someone in their life that has been affected. Early detection could save your life and is imperative to receiving treatment as soon as possible. Discuss the best preventative care possible with your physician or health care provider.
