Broward is anything but boring as we investigate the future.  As your County Commissioner and the Vice-Mayor of Broward County, I am focused on policies that will create future growth for our county. These solutions will make everyday life better for residents.

In February, I met with Elon Musk’s Boring Company about potentially creating a tunnel under the New River. We also discussed potential solutions that would help decrease the commute for residents of District 3.

The Boring Company believes that they can create tunnel systems at a fraction of the cost of traditional government actors. I look forward to working with The Boring Company, local municipalities, and Broward County as we explore these exciting possibilities that make for a limitless future.

In addition, as Vice-Mayor, I will continue to showcase and hold meetings with companies that see the potential of our region and support our local businesses that already call Broward home. From creating a talent pipeline from our universities to a better quality of life for Broward residents, our leadership is ready to welcome companies that support all facets of the local economy.

Businesses, Broward wants to invest in you!  Broward continues to upgrade its procurement code. The revised process will provide for a more accessible format that is inclusive of all Broward businesses. We will do this by further streamlining the participation process for local businesses while increasing publicity of all contracts, big and small, to the local community.

The only way to take part is to get certified. Check out the certification process and fill out an application online at broward.org/EconDev. Contact the Office of Economic and Small Business Development today with any questions because Broward County wants to #BuyBroward!

Kings Point is reopening the Palace Theatre, and the Coral Springs Center for the Arts is re-opening as well.  Of course, county guidelines for safety will be followed during all events. These include limited attendance, masks, and social distancing policies.  It will be great to have different shows and artists at these venues. I look forward to attending in the future and wish both venues a successful season.

I would also like to wish everyone a fun Saint Patrick’s Day and a relaxing spring break.  If you are traveling, please remember to follow all local COVID-19 guidelines, or if you plan to stay home, remember to support local restaurants and businesses. Please remember to be responsible, have a safe holiday, and wear green.
