Broward Education Foundation and Office Depot Launch Teacher Supply Drive

Broward Education Foundation and Office Depot, Inc. have partnered to launch the COVID-19 Virtual Learning Teacher Supply Drive to help Broward County Public Schools educators purchase much needed remote learning tools.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers have had to rapidly adapt their teaching methods and build virtual classrooms. Educating students in an online environment requires a different set of tools such as microphones, headsets, green screens, whiteboards, and so much more.

“Teachers in Broward County Public Schools have had to adjust curriculums and truly improvise, purchasing virtual learning tools out of their own pockets,” said Shea Ciriago, executive director Broward Education Foundation. “They are working hard to keep our community’s children engaged, focused and learning but our teachers need your help.”

Office Depot will match donations to the virtual learning supply drive up to $5,000, said Alex Price, National Director of Community Investment for Office Depot, Inc.

In 2018, the Broward Education Foundation responded to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy by initiating a GoFundMe campaign — the official Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund and raised $10.5M for victims’ families, survivors and those impacted.
