The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is actively seeking the public’s assistance in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Oct. 1 in Tamarac.

Around 10:54 p.m., Broward County Regional Communications received a distressing call concerning a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the juncture of Northwest 31st Avenue and West Commercial Boulevard. In response, BSO deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue teams rushed to the location.

Early findings from the investigation show a disturbing sequence of events: A male individual was crossing southbound, proximate to the crosswalk on the western side of the intersection. As he did so, the vehicle’s driver, moving eastbound through the intersection, collided with him.

Paramedics at the scene pronounced him deceased.

The driver responsible for the crash fled the scene. Surveillance footage sourced from a gas station in the vicinity offers a crucial lead.

The video displays a vehicle thought to be connected to the crash—a silver sedan or perhaps a compact SUV. Vehicle parts, specifically from the passenger side headlight assembly, were found at the scene, suggesting the suspect’s vehicle might exhibit noticeable damage on its front passenger side.

Detectives are making an urgent plea to the community for any insights. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who might have information about the driver, vehicle or those who might have been driving in the area and possess potentially helpful video footage.
