I’m one of the worst offenders at proofreading, so who am I to judge when I see a blatant error on a candidate’s website?
First of all, I expect some semblance of perfection from a candidate, especially when the error is the city that they one day hope to represent. That’s why I had a good laugh when I noticed that candidate for Broward County Commission, Raymark Clement, plans on representing the newly created city of North Lauderhill.
Hint: It should say North Lauderdale.
I’m sure Lauderhill Mayor Richard Kaplan will be interested in learning about this newly formed city north of his own.
Clement is running for Stacy Ritter’s seat after she announced her resignation from the commission after becoming the next president of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. As a political newcomer, Clement also needs to be made aware that his website needs political disclaimers on it.
Born in Panama, he has a degree in civil engineering and founded a nonprofit organization for technical and engineering disaster assistance and travelled on a humanitarian mission to provide assistance during the earthquake in Haiti. For 15 years, he served as president of the organization and sent humanitarian aid to different countries in the Western Hemisphere, including Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Colombia, Argentina and Peru.
Currently, Clement works with underground utilities, water systems, rainwater and sewage and lives in Coral Springs.
