Tamarac City Commissioner Patte Atkins-Grad tried to get the appellate court to drastically accelerate the timing in her appeal of Circuit Judge Michael Gate’s order denying her an “Emergency Injunction” to stop the recall against her. Judge Gates had denied her request finding her grounds were insufficient and that her requested relief would not serve the public interest.

Atkins-Grad Claims Innocence, Blames Opponents in Statement

Patte Atkins-Grad released her 200-word statement on Monday saying she is innocent of all charges, and that there is no justification for a recall.

In her most blatant dismissal of wrongdoing, Atkins-Grad never denies taking the money for a BMW and a victory party, yet puts herself in the same caliber of fellow commissioners who also voted for the Chaits’ land deal, although they were not enriched with luxurious gifts.

The homeowners in Tamarac just don’t seem to matter. 90-95 percent of The Pines at Woodmont III are against building. Over the past few weeks in District Two of Tamarac, Florida, I have been canvassing for Petition signatures to Recall and Remove a corrupt and now ineffective City Commissioner from her elected position. Spearheaded by both a Republican and Democratic precinct captains, I wanted to make a difference and joined the small force of like-minded citizens. While political recall may have been the presenting issue, the greater principle emerged very quickly. That is what it is to be a free and proactive American.

It was announced by the Supervisor of Elections that the recall effort to remove Tamarac City Commissioner Patte Atkins-Grad fell 18 signatures short. However, Petition organizer Alvin Entin may challenge the total number of qualified voters in the district based on the fact that the Supervisor of Elections may have failed to purge voter rolls due to deaths in the area.
