Teed Off About Potential Golf Course Purchase

Teed Off About Potential Golf Course Purchase

Who knew that the City of Tamarac was in the golf business?  While east Tamarac has two empty golf courses sitting near the Mainlands and Sabal Palm, the City has decided that it wants to buy one of Colony West’s courses for $3 million dollars to preserve green space. What about the brown spaces out […]

City of Tamarac: Give our Money Back

City of Tamarac: Give our Money Back

Budget cuts as a result of lost revenue have made the City of Tamarac close our parks every Monday, with no plans to revert to the former schedule. It’s no wonder why I found today’s story in the Sun-Sentinel about cities hoarding extra rainy day cash so upsetting.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, Tamarac has $24.5 million dollars in unreserved funds. This amount is in excess of 75% of it’s total annual expenditures of $32.6 million for 2010. It goes on to say that the recommended minimum of the Government Finance Officers Association is about 17% of it’s annual expenditures. To clarify, this means that Tamarac is holding on to over $19 million in excess reserve funds.

In my experience, this crime is committed by overweight men who seem oblivious that their asses are exposed.  This happened recently while watching a play at Challenger […]

Tamarac Needs More Bus Shelters from Broward County Transit

Tamarac Needs More Bus Shelters from Broward County Transit

Why aren’t more people using public transportation in Tamarac?  With gas prices at their highest in years, riding a bus is still not an option that many people will choose.  Unlike other major cities in the United States, using a Broward County bus is not a dignified experience. One of the biggest problem are the […]
