Several companies are interested in managing the Colony West Golf Club, and soon the city manager will present recommendations to the commission.
In late August, the Colony West golf course closed. The course purchased in a short sale in 2011 by the City of Tamarac for $3 million was turned back over to the Rack family, who had owned it since 1985. Unable to make future lease payments past September, they closed all operations leaving many out of jobs.
At the city commission meeting on Wednesday, City Manager Michael Cernech said that the courses have been maintained in the past three weeks and that several interested parties have taken tours around the premises. These companies have until October 1 to present RFP’s or Recommendation For Proposals to the city.
Once these are in, Cernech hopes to recommend the city commission to review at the October 9 workshop meeting.
