Expecting to become a major hurricane over the Labor Day weekend, the City of Tamarac is continuing to monitor the path of Hurricane Dorian.
While no storm watches or warnings have been issued and Dorian’s exact path is still uncertain, the current forecast indicates an increasing likelihood that Tamarac could experience strong winds, heavy rains, and local flooding even if we don’t receive a direct impact.
They are urging residents and businesses to closely monitor this storm and to complete their hurricane preparations as soon as possible.
They are continuing storm preparations by lowering canals and clearing storm drains for stormwater management. They have also developed a “vulnerable population registry” at (954) 831-4000 to be added to this list.
Waste Management will operate business as usual for residential and commercial collections through Saturday. While there is no residential collection on Sunday, they will run commercial collections until conditions dictate they must stop. It is anticipated there will be no collections on Monday or Tuesday. Please note: we anticipate clear bags will be required for vegetative debris post-storm.
