Crime Update for Tamarac Through August 31

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through August 31.

Auto Theft

3915 W Commercial Blvd – CVS

On August 28, a person reported an unknown black male stole his 2016 white Hyundai Sonata after he left it unattended in the parking lot of CVS.

Baker Act

6100 N University

On August 28, a complainant reported to BSO that a man was pacing back and forth along a main road and sidewalk while brandishing a NERF Rifle (toy gun) in an aggressive manner towards motorists. Once BSO detained him, he commenced screaming that the “government is out to get me” and to “just shoot me”. Based on erratic behavior he is likely to be a harm to himself and others.

Domestic Battery

5500 block of NW 31st Ave

On August 29, the victim advised that her child’s father strangled her to the point where she lost consciousness. The defendant was arrested and transported the BSO Main Jail.

Burglary Conveyance

5600 block of NW 58th Ln – Osprey

On August 28, BSO made contact with all three victims who advised their vehicles were burglarized. Unknown subject(s) gained entry by smashing the vehicle windows.

4900 block of NW 55th Pl – Manor Parc

On August 31, an unknown male burglarized the victim’s car in the driveway and stole items. The incident was captured on video surveillance.

4700 block of NW 50th Ct

On August 29, resident reported that his white 2020 Dodge Ram was burglarized. A Sig Arms P365 (9mm) was stolen from the center console.

9300 block of NW 81st Ct

On August 28, the victim`s firearm left in the vehicle, unknown where it was taken from, x2 day delay.

Criminal Mischief

6700 block of NW 70th Ave

On August 30, the victim reported that an unknown subject(s) slashed all four tires to his 2014 Black Honda Accord Photos taken of damaged tires. Area canvassed for camera surveillance. No witnesses.

Domestic Disturbance

8100 block of W Commercial Blvd

On August 30, a boyfriend and girlfriend, mutual combatants, a primary aggressor couldn’t be determined. Both individuals claim one another committed battery. Both stories were inconsistent and lack of physical evidence.

Information

7600 Nw 57th St

On August 29, the reporting person advised an elderly woman was causing a disturbance in the parking lot of McDonald’s. The subject advised she ordered food but the store refused to give what she ordered. The subject was disoriented and was lost. The subject was transported to her address in the city of Sunrise. Later it was revealed the subject drove her vehicle but the vehicle was nowhere to be found. BSO returned to the area and located the vehicle in the parking lot of La Granja which is adjacent to the McDonald’s parking lot.

5881 N University Dr

On August 29, a male subject attempted to purchase a money order at Publix in the amount of $3,000.00 and became upset when asked to complete a Money Order Transaction Form and show identification bearing the purchaser’s photograph, name, and address.

5357 N State Road 7

On August 30, the subject was shot multiple times at the above location by a nonlethal paintball gun.

Lost Property

7300 block of Granville Dr – Granville

On August 27, a 90-year-old victim’s wedding ring was last seen by her Home Health Care Provider on 08/21/20 in the victim’s purse on her bedside

Theft/Shoplifting

3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On August 28, a male subject entered the store, loaded up a shopping cart with cases of beer and Bluetooth headphones, and then proceeded to exit the store without paying for the items.

4161 W Commercial Blvd – Publix Liquor Store

On August 30, a female subject entered the store and loaded three bottles of Grey Goose and left without paying. The subject fled in a silver Chevy Malibu, FL tag # NVND03

Theft

6701 Hiatus Rd – City Furniture

On August 28, an unknown person stole the victim’s license plate and decal from a work vehicle.

Touch or Strike Battery

7600 block of Nob Hill Rd

On August 29, the victim was battered by his ex-girlfriend, while they were both inside a vehicle that was in motion. He hit her back in an attempt to get her to stop. She complained about pain on her jaw from him hitting her and he drove her to a hospital. It was later determined that she was the primary aggressor and she was charged accordingly and transported to the BSO Main Jail.

Arrests

Yazdanfar, Avisheh Marie (W F, 22) arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/dating Viol at 7600 Nob Hill Rd, Tamarac, on 08/29/2020.

Jerkins, Adam Devon (B M, 37) arrested on charges of Domestic Battery By Strangulation-dating Relation at 5510 NW 31st Ave, Tamarac, on 08/29/2020.
