Don’t Miss the Popular Tamarac Turkey Trot

Time to put on those running shoes because the 39th annual Tamarac Turkey Trot 5K run is just around the corner and this year, proceeds are now going for a good cause.

All ages can participate, and trophies will be given to the first three finishers based on Gun Time as well as to first place age group winners. Awards will be also be awarded to second and third place age group winners. Age group winners based on Net Time and awards will be presented at Tamarac City Hall after the race.

The run starts promptly at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, November 28, and it’s recommended that registrants plan to arrive early to have enough time to find parking and get to the start line.  She also said that strollers are allowed, but they do discourage pets on the racecourse.

Donations will benefit the Parks and Recreation Foundation of Tamarac and will be used to provide funding for youth program grants, scholarships, park equipment, and recreation events.  If you would like to make a donation, please indicate the amount on the registration form.

I-95 to Cypress Creek Road or Turnpike to Commercial Blvd., west to Pine Island Road, then north 1/2 mile or Sawgrass Expressway to Commercial Blvd., east to Pine Island Road, then north for 1 1/2 miles.

Entry Fees

Early Registration: $25 – Before November 15th

Late Registration:  $30 – November 16th – 27th

Registration closes at 12:00 pm on November 27th

Race Day Registration: $50 – cash only

Race Day registration closes at 7:00 a.m. sharp.

Race Day Packet Pick-up

Packet pick up begins at 6:30 a.m. at Tamarac City Hall.

Age Divisions

Male/Female – 9 and under, 10 – 12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49,50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.

Awards

Trophies to first overall three finishers based on Gun Time.  Trophies to first, second and third place age group winners. Age group winners based on Net Time. Awards will be presented at Tamarac City Hall after the race.

T-Shirts and Finisher Medals

Commemorative T-shirts guaranteed to the first 1800 runners to pick up their packets. T-shirts are not guaranteed on day of race. All finishers wearing a race bib will receive a medal.

Water Stations

Please take advantage of the fluid stations at approximately the first and second mile markers.

Refreshments

There will be a variety of food and refreshments for all race participants following the race.

Medical Emergencies

A medical team will be on call.  Staff at each fluid station will be in contact with the medical team. Please inform them if you or any other runner on the course needs assistance.

Chrono-Track Timing

The race is on a Chrono-Track Timing System.  Chip is disposable and recyclable.

Course

5K (3.1 miles) – USATF Certified

The course is flat and fast with many corners through the Woodmont area of Tamarac. Race Route: Race starts at 77th St. on Pine Island Road, east on 75th, north on 80th, loops back to Pine Island Road, then south to finish line at City Hall.
