Dozens of residents in the Central Parc community in Tamarac lost valuables when a rash of car burglaries occurred on the evening of December 12th prompting the Broward Sheriff’s Office to remind residents to lock their car doors to avoid becoming victims.

Despite their warnings, car burglaries were up over 18 percent in Tamarac in 2016 over last year. According to BSO, there were 319 car burglaries in 2015,  in 2016, that number increased to 386 – and the year isn’t over yet.

One homeowner who lives in Central Parc at NW 59th Street, spoke in front of the city commission at Wednesday’s meeting and discussed the crime in her area. She asked the commission what could be done besides the resident patrol “COP” program to help watch over their community.  The mayor directed her to speak to Captain Glassman, however, she said she had already.
