Residents looking to take their first step toward homeownership are invited to attend a free First-Time Homebuyer Workshop on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Tamarac Community Center.
Billed as “New Year, New Home,” the workshop will run from noon to 3 p.m. and will provide prospective buyers with practical tools, local insights, and direct access to industry professionals. The event is led by realtor Kemula Wright in partnership with Tamarac Commissioner Krystal Patterson of District 3.
The workshop will begin with an opening session outlining a step-by-step roadmap to homeownership, including guidance on purchasing a first home, understanding local housing trends, navigating down payment assistance and financing programs, and overcoming common barriers faced by new buyers.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in expert panels and breakout discussions, offering one-on-one access to realtors, lenders, title representatives, insurance agents, inspectors, appraisers, nonprofit organizations, and housing program providers.
In addition, the event will feature a vendor fair highlighting community resources, housing counselors, and financial educators. Participants can ask questions, explore available support services, and learn about programs designed to make homeownership more accessible.
Raffles, giveaways, and community engagement activities are also planned, with prizes including gift cards, credit and financial consultations, and homebuyer resources. Lunch will be provided to attendees.
Featured presenters include Commissioner Krystal Patterson, realtor Kemula Wright, and mortgage loan originator Latrece Julmis.
The workshop will be held at the Tamarac Community Center and is open to the public.
