Governor Rick Scott Ordered Flags at Half-Staff for Fallen Tamarac Soldier

Brodsky and his dog, Jackson

Governor Rick Scott ordered state and national flags lowered outside the Capitol in Tallahassee to half-staff on Saturday for Petty Officer Second Class Michael J. Brodsky of Tamarac who died on July 21 of injuries suffered from an explosive device.

Brodsky, 33, who was also a K9 dog handler, was part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Kandahar.

In critical condition and unresponsive after the July 7th explosion, Brodsky was flown to Germany where doctors tried to save him.

“He was in incredibly bad condition. The doctors, corpsmen, friends and family did everything possible. Mikey had a living will which clearly stated he did not want to be assisted to continue in the condition he was currently in and the condition that awaited him in the future.” Said his father Steve Brodsky via Facebook.
