Help Police Find Robbers who Pushed Elderly Man to Ground Stealing Jewelry

By: Sharon Aron Baron:

An elderly man was pushed to the ground by two young robbers who then stole his gold chain. Detectives are searching for the men, who they believe may be involved in a similar crime at the same location.

At 3:30 p.m. on May 12, Louie Kattou, 77,  of Margate was walking through the parking lot of the Broward Meat and Fish Market at 8060 W. McNab Road in North Lauderdale when he was pushed into some bushes by two young men. The assailants then grabbed an 18-inch gold chain with a black onyx crab charm from the victim’s neck and ran off.

Security cameras captured images of the two perpetrators as they ran away. Detectives are searching for the two robbers. One was wearing a red shirt and tan shorts with shoulder-length, twisted hair. The other had short hair and wore a black shirt and blue jeans. The two thieves jumped into an older model, maroon, four-door Ford 500 driven by a female.

Detectives believe these thieves were also involved in a similar robbery at the same location on April 19. Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to contact BSO Detective Cody Gill at 954-321-4275 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
