Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida’s job growth for November was six times faster than the nation as Florida gained 51,100 jobs while the nation as a whole gained 210,000 jobs over the month.

Companies are also having a difficult time finding full-time workers in this competitive market, and the City of Tamarac is no exception.

Assistant Director of Community Development

Full-time – $75,920.00 – $127,947.00 Annually

Department: Community Development

Under limited supervision, supervises plans and coordinates the activities of the Business Revenue Division and the Planning and Zoning Division, including the Geographic Information System (GIS) Program in order to ensure the proper planning and management of City and community property.

Responsible for comprehensive planning, current planning, zoning administration, site plan review, subdivision review, community beautification, landscape reviews, and review and issuance of business tax receipts.  Reviews work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy –reports to the Director of Community Development.

Administrative Coordinator – Community Development Department

Full-time – $43,066.00 – $57,821.00 Annually

Department: Community Development

Under general supervision, provides administrative support services to the Director of Community Development and departmental divisions: Planning and Zoning, Housing, and Code Compliance.  Supports all departmental functions to ensure the efficient operation of the department—reports to Director of Community Development or designee.

Events Specialist

Full-time – $48,466.00 – $81,678.00 Annually

Department: Parks & Recreation

Under limited supervision, responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating, and implementing various programs, events, and activities in the Parks and Recreation department.

Plans, organizes, and directs the Parks and Recreation special events, activities, and recreation staff of an assigned area of the Parks and Recreation Department to ensure the effective and safe management of City-wide events and community programs– reports to the Special Events Coordinator or designee.

Human Resources Technician

Full-time – $46,508.00 – $78,380.00 Annually

Department: Human Resources Department

Under limited supervision, performs various administrative and technical support functions in the Department of Human Resources.  Duties include assisting in administering the City’s pension plan(s), employee benefit and wellness programs, and leave of absence approval and monitoring processes.

Work involves recognizing, preparing, and typing minutes, ordinances, resolutions, memos, contracts, legal correspondence, and other documents and maintaining system documentation, researching regulations, and maintaining files, calendars, and schedules.  Answers telephone, receives visitors and ensures efficient office operation—reports to the Benefits Manager.

SCADA System Specialist

City of Tamarac, FL

Full-time – $50,132.00 – $73,317.00 Annually

Department: Public Services

Under general supervision, performs electronic and related technical and computer work in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system located at the Water Treatment Facility and remote stations located throughout the water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.

Repairs, calibrates, and maintains a variety of electrical and electronic monitoring and automated process control equipment at the City’s Water Treatment Facility and the water and wastewater systems. Troubleshoots, programs, and repairs and adjustments to the SCADA system — reports to the Water Plant Superintendent or designee.

Senior Fleet Mechanic

Full-time – $50,132.00 – $73,317.00 Annually

Department: Public Services

Under occasional supervision, performs technical and supervisory work directing a staff of skilled technicians engaged in the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of automotive vehicles and heavy/small equipment and their related components.  Plans, assigns, and reviews subordinates’ maintenance and repair work to ensure the proper and safe operation of vehicles assigned for City departmental use.

Work includes training, instructing, and guiding subordinate personnel in proper vehicle equipment repair, maintenance and inspection methods, techniques, and procedures—reports to the Fleet Services Supervisor.

Groundskeeper I – Part-time

The City of Tamarac has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Groundskeeper I Under regular supervision, performs a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks on City property and roadways — reports to Grounds Maintenance Supervisor or designee. Hours for this position are Mon-Thurs (5:30 pm to 10:30 pm) and Saturdays (6:00 am – 2:30 pm).

Community Engagement Liaison

Under general supervision, provides a wide variety of clerical and administrative support in the day-to-day operation of the office of the Mayor and City Commission. This is highly responsible administrative and professional work assisting the Controller in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the accounting division.

The employee works under limited supervision in overseeing payroll, cash disbursements, accounts payable, cash management, debt management, pension accounting, grants, and fixed assets; assists in the annual external audit and preparation of the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report; performs a variety of financial analyses, research, contract review/interpretation, and participates in various administrative committees to ensure the proper management of the City’s financial position. 

Service Worker I (Streets & Stormwater)

Full-time – $34,029.00 – $41,897.00 Annually

Department: Public Services

Under regular supervision, performs technically skilled Public Services maintenance and construction activities. Employees in this class typically operate various tools, vehicles, and equipment to accomplish duties. Work usually requires maintaining close engineering tolerances. Reports to Stormwater/Streets Supervisor or designee.

Building Maintenance Technician

Full-time – $18.08 – $26.44 Hourly

Department: Public Services

Under occasional supervision, performs building maintenance and repair work at the full performance level utilizing several building trades skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, custodial duties, roofing, and cement finishing.

An employee in this class is assigned to work in departmental facilities responsible for responding to the corrective needs of buildings, physical structures, equipment, and system components—reports to the Facility Management Supervisor or designee.

Structural Inspector

Fleet Mechanic II

Full-time – $44,759.00 – $55,113.00 Annually

Department: Public Services

This is full performance level equipment repair, overhaul, replacement, and maintenance work on engines and related component and sub-component parts and assemblies used in automotive, construction, and specialized equipment powered by electrical motors and internal combustion gas, diesel, or alternative fueled engines.

Work includes performing safety and emission inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and operating equipment to ensure proper functioning, using accepted troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to isolate malfunctioning parts and assemblies, and guiding lower-level maintenance personnel to perform proper equipment operation, diagnosis, and repair.

Network Administrator I

Full-time – $53,366.00 – $71,652.00 Annually

Department: Information Technology

Under occasional supervision, provides professional, technical and analytical support in a LAN/WAN environment, using Microsoft operating systems and various application software. Provides primary support for all network operations, personal computer systems, telecommunications, and hardware and software issues.

Serves as technical liaison between Information Technology (IT) Department staff, City staff, computer vendors, and consultants –reports to the Assistant Director of Information Technology.

Mechanical Inspector – On Call

The City of Tamarac is seeking an Engineering Construction Inspector/Plans Examiner. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and have at least five years of experience in civil engineering inspection and plans review, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license.  Possession of related coursework, certifications, or licenses, and/or South Florida utility construction experience is preferable.  The first review of applications will take place on May 17, 2021. The position is subject to closing at that time or when a sufficient number of applications are received.
