Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek in Tamarac will host a special Lunch and Learn program on Saturday, June 27, featuring two residents of Kibbutz Urim who will share their experiences surrounding the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks in Israel and their aftermath.
The program, titled “Surviving October 7th and Beyond,” will feature Carmi and David Holtzer following Shabbat services at the synagogue at 5700 N.W. 94th Ave.
Services begin at 9:30 a.m., with the presentation scheduled to start around noon.
According to the synagogue, the program is part of its ongoing Lunch and Learn Series.
Shortly after the Oct. 7 attacks, the Holtzers’ daughter, Zionah Holtzer, and her husband, Mijael Winitzky, both survivors of the attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz, visited Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek with their two young children. During a Shabbat Kiddush, they met with clergy and congregants seeking comfort and support.
Although they were invited to share their experiences publicly at the time, they said they were not yet prepared to do so.
Instead, Carmi and David Holtzer, longtime residents of Kibbutz Urim, will speak about their own experiences, the impact of the attacks on their family and neighboring communities in the Negev region, and the personal losses suffered by members of the close-knit kibbutzim. They are also expected to provide an update on Zionah Holtzer and Mijael Winitzky.

Attendees should enter the synagogue through the parking lot entrance off Northwest 58th Street rather than Northwest 57th Street.
