A man was charged with aggravated assault on his girlfriend after a verbal dispute became physical.
Marvin Brown, 36, of Tamarac, was arrested on September 30 for assaulting his girlfriend after allegedly kicking her and threatening to hit her in the face with a wrench.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office was called to 5700 block of NW 60th Ave, where Brown, his girlfriend, and three children resided. According to the police report, the victim wanted to use the vehicle to go to her nail appointment; however, he wanted to take the vehicle to the shop for repairs. An argument arose, which allegedly led Brown to push the victim in the face onto the floor.
According to the report, Brown then retrieved a wrench from the kitchen and grabbed the victim. He pulled her into the nearest bedroom and threw her on the bed, threatening to hit her in the face with the wrench. As she resisted, Brown pushed her onto the ground and stated that “she was not going anywhere.”
Brown allegedly kicked her twice in the stomach while she was on the ground.
The victim did not have any visible injuries and declined treatment from BSO Fire Rescue. Deputies took Brown into custody, where he was later transferred to the Broward County Main Jail. The victim told deputies she wished to prosecute.
