A man was arrested for battery and dating violence after assaulting an ex-boyfriend inside the Lauderdale Lakes Moose Lodge.
On March 16, the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a battery call from a man at the Moose Lodge at 6191 Rock Island Road in Tamarac. When deputies arrived, they encountered a heavily intoxicated man, later identified as Charles Mowry, 40, of Southwest Ranches, who was acting aggressively.
According to police, there was a verbal dispute between Mowry and the victim — a man he had previously had a relationship with that turned physical. The report said as matters escalated between the men, Mowry continually shoved him in the chest. The victim told deputies he attempted to push Mowry back in self-defense, but Mowry grew increasingly more aggressive.
During the assault, the victim said Mowry ripped his glasses off his face with such force that his nose was sore. Deputies reported that the victim continually expressed he feared for his safety and wished to press charges.
Deputies interviewed a witness who told them Mowry had been drinking heavily all day and was being overly aggressive with people. The witness also stated Mowry slapped the victim so hard that his glasses flew off his face, and after the victim lost his glasses, he ran outside and called 911.
Mowry was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. On March 24, Mowry was released on his own recognizance and ordered not to consume alcohol or contact the victim.
