A husband was arrested after allegedly strangling his wife over a fight about drinking and money.

On December 23, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call at a Tamarac residence at the 10700 block of NW 81st Street. When deputies arrived, the victim told them that her husband, Renzo Garro, 31, had attempted to strangle her.

According to the report, the altercation stemmed from an argument about Garro not being truthful about his drinking habits and escalated when Garro accused the victim of taking cash they had saved in a location inside the home.

The victim told deputies Garro became progressively more aggressive and verbally abusive, cursing and yelling at the victim, screaming at her, “I’m going to fuck you over!” and “You’re a whore!”.

The report stated that the victim pleaded with Garro to leave, but he refused to go anywhere until the victim gave him the money he believed she had stolen from him. The victim retreated to a bedroom in the home and laid on a bed to deescalate the situation.

However, according to the report, Garro followed her into the bedroom, jumped on top of her on the bed, and placed his hands around her neck for at least three seconds, stopping her from being able to breathe.

After completing their investigation, deputies arrested Garro and transported him to the Broward County Mail Jail.
