Dear Neighbors,

Welcome to December 2023! It has been another wonderful year representing you! Thank you!

As the holiday season begins, it’s time to make room in the closet or garage! You can do so by dropping off your Household Hazardous Waste from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd,  at Tamarac Public Services located at 6011 North Nob Hill (East Entry Gate). Safely recycle unneeded electronics and hazardous household waste for free! Just store your items in your trunk remain in your vehicle, and event staff will retrieve and recycle them with minimal contact. To participate, a photo ID is required to verify residency in Tamarac, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Lauderdale Lakes, North Lauderdale, and Pompano Beach.

Take preventative measures:

According to the American Red Cross, nearly 358,500 structural fires occur annually in the United States. Enrolling in Tamarac Fire Rescue’s FREE Community Connect program allows residents to make relevant information readily available to first responders in an emergency. Sign up today by visiting

www.Tamarac.me/CC. Let’s light up the nights for Chanukah together!

The first night is Thursday, December 7th, at 5:30 p.m., at the Chabad of Tamarac (8100 N. University Dr.), where we will Unite with Israel. Standing 32 feet tall, the event will feature the world’s largest dreidel! Don’t miss the public menorah lighting, face painting, donuts, latkes, and crafts for free! Then join the Chabad of Tamarac on the 4th night of Chanukah at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, December 10th, at the Tamarac Park Baseball Fields (7501 N. University Dr.), where our Tamarac Fire Rescue will help us with the gelt drop! There will be another lighting and more donuts, latkes, and entertainment!

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone both nights to show that everybody’s inner light shines even brighter when we stand united as one!

Winter festivities continue at the City of Tamarac’s Winter Wonderland on Friday, December 8th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Tamarac Park Baseball Fields (7501 N. University Dr.). Come have fun at this family-friendly event with Ooopsy the Elf, who will lead Holiday Elmo, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Christmas Minnie, and the world-famous Olaf to the stage to sing and dance! Also, take a photo with Santa and enjoy bounce houses, games, food trucks, and more!

Then, on Saturday, December 9th, it is time to celebrate the holidays with your fur babies at the annual Paws with Claus Holiday Paw-ty! Join the holiday fun at Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups (8101 Southgate Blvd.). The event is from 10:00 a.m. to noon and features a holiday pet costume contest, vendors, music, and more! It is also a great time to adopt a pet! Broward Animal Care will waive all adoption fees, including spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and a Broward County pet license tag! My trio of pups and I hope to see you there!

This month’s Move with Mayor is on Saturday, December 16th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Center (8601 W. Commercial Blvd.), where we will enjoy a free hour-long 20/20/20 workout with Paula! It’s a great way to kick-start any New Year’s Resolutions or sweat away some calories from a latke or candy cane!
