Missing Dog, Fraud, and Battery this Week in Tamarac Crime

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime through January 18, 2021.

Auto Theft

5801 Madison Av – Sawgrass Infiniti

On January 12, a 2018 Infiniti Q50 lease turn-in was last seen by the manager and assistant manager. The keys are not with the vehicle. The insurance payoff is 18,000.

7431 N University Dr – West Broward of Rheumatology Associates

On January 18, an unknown suspect(s) stole the 2021 gray Honda Accord bearing from the public parking lot at approximately 11:45 a.m. Auto Theft Affidavit was completed, and Records Teletype Operator entered the vehicle into NCIC/FCIC. No video surveillance or witnesses available.

Battery

9400 block of NW 83rd St – Spring Lake

On January 12, the victim states her ex-boyfriend grabbed her by the arm against her will and bit her on her right forearm.

6190 block of Rock Island Rd

On January 15, a defendant related to this case committed the act of battery toward his boyfriend by placing his hands against the victim’s will.

5425 N State Road 7 – Fiesta Food Mart

On January 14, a suspect punched victim#1 in the mouth multiple times and threatened victim#2 with a knife. Victim#1 and the suspect have been engaged in a dating relationship for the past year. The suspect was later located at 5221 N SR 7, charged accordingly.

6000 block of Royal Poinciana Ln – Woodlands Country Club

On January 14, BSO responded to a domestic violence call where it was determined the suspect did commit the offense of battery

Burglary Conveyance

5400 block of NW 26th Av – Boulevards of Tamarac

On January 13, a locked vehicle was attempted to be burglarized. No entry made, No property reported stolen. Latent Prints collected. Surveillance collected.

6100 block of  NW 73rd Ave

On January 16, an attempted conveyance-burglary, driver door handle damaged, no signs of forced entry, nothing missing from the vehicle.

Criminal Mischief

7800 block of  Beechfern Way – The Pines at Woodmont

On January 12, a complainant advised a known boyfriend attempted to damage her vehicle by throwing a broken piece of tile at it.

Domestic Disturbance

9500 block of Weldon Cir – Kings Point

On January 14, the reporting party advised he was in an alleged physical altercation with her wife, and they are in the process of filing a divorce. Due to the conflicting statements and no physical injuries, no witnesses, and intoxicated state, BSO could not determine if a crime took place, and no charges were filed.

Fraud

4500 block of NW 43rd Ter. – Mainlands

On January 12, a victim was scammed out of $1,200 after the subject stated he worked for the city and needed funds to pay for the water system implemented in his community.

Lost Property

8199 N University Dr – Walgreens

On January 17, a person let her dog, a 7-year-old, 4 1⁄2 pound male tan Chihuahua named “Guy,” out of her car to urinate before driving to Plantation for dinner. She believed the dog jumped back inside the car, however, once in Plantation, she realized the dog was not in the car with her. She returned to Walgreens and learned a white female in gray jogging pants had walked into the store with a dog, of similar description, on a leash.  The dog was eventually reunited with its owner thanks to a good Samaritan who found and returned the dog.

5600 block of NW 58th Way – Woodland Green

On January 18, a victim lost her passport and social security card.

Theft

3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On January 13, a male brought in a laundry/duffel bag, placed nine orange plastic containers of Tide Pods inside the bag, and exited the store. The total loss is $139.94.

4999 N State Road 7 – 7-Eleven

On January 14, a male suspect entered the 7-Eleven, grabbed ten phone charging chords, and then proceeded to exit the store, passing all sale points.

7201 N University Dr – University Hospital

On January 17, the security guard at the front lobby had his phone stolen from a Grub Hub delivery person at 7:51 a.m.

4191 W Commercial Blvd – Publix

On January 17, two unknown suspects entered the Publix Liquor Store and stole four bottles of liquor.

Arrests

Watts, Jeremy Christopher (B M, 31) was arrested on charges of  Aggrav Assault – Weapon-w Deadly Weapon Without Intent To Kill at 5425 N State Road 7, Tamarac, on 01/14/2021.

James, Lashawn Akeem (B M, 31) was arrested on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol at 6001 Royal Poinciana Ln, Tamarac, on 01/14/2021.

Mowry, Charles Michael (W M, 40) was arrested on Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol charges at 6191 Rock Island Rd, Tamarac, on 01/15/2021.

Shirey, Shaun Hunter (W M, 32) was arrested on Resist Officer-obstruct Wo Violence charges at 5805 Nw 72nd Ave, Tamarac, on 01/17/2021.

Shirey, Shaun Hunter (W M, 32) was arrested on charges of Warrant at 5805 Nw 72nd Ave, Tamarac, on 01/17/2021.
