Jamiel Levar McCloud {BSO}
A Tamarac homeowner returned home to find a naked stranger lying on the apartment floor who allegedly told him, “Someone told me to come here,” before being arrested on burglary and indecent exposure charges.
According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, Jamiel Levar McCloud, 44, of North Lauderdale, was arrested on July 21 after residents called 911 to report an unknown naked man inside their home.
Investigators said one of the victims had just returned home from work and used his key to unlock the apartment. After turning on the hallway light, he allegedly discovered McCloud lying naked on the floor on top of a white shirt.
When confronted, deputies said McCloud responded, “Someone told me to come here.”
The second resident, who had been in a bedroom watching television, came out after hearing yelling and was shocked to find the stranger inside the apartment. According to investigators, McCloud then stood up, exposing his genitals to both residents. The couple told deputies they had never seen McCloud before, had never invited him into their home and were frightened while waiting for deputies to arrive.
The investigation determined the home’s sliding glass door had likely been left unlocked earlier in the day after fire inspectors visited the residence. One of the victims told deputies the door is normally kept locked and unused, leading investigators to believe McCloud entered through the unlocked sliding door.
The female resident told investigators she had arrived home around 6:30 p.m., found the door locked and noticed nothing unusual. She recalled hearing what sounded like a sliding door approximately 10 to 20 minutes before the incident but assumed it was the other resident arriving home and did not investigate.
After being taken into custody, McCloud was interviewed by detectives. According to the affidavit, he admitted being at the apartment complex but claimed he experienced a lapse of memory and could not recall what happened between arriving there and being detained by deputies.
McCloud was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
