Ismael Martinez Gutierrez, 37, of North Lauderdale, is celebrating a life-changing win after claiming a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery’s $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR Scratch-Off game.
According to the Florida Lottery, Martinez Gutierrez opted for a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000. He purchased the winning ticket at Aunt Molly’s, 1691 S. State Road 7, in North Lauderdale.
For selling the lucky ticket, the retailer earned a $2,000 bonus commission.
The $50 Scratch-Off game offers two top prizes of $1 million a year for life and 234 prizes of $1 million, with more than $1.6 billion in total cash prizes. The overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.5.
Scratch-Off games continue to be a major contributor to the Lottery’s success, making up nearly three-quarters of all ticket sales in the 2023–2024 fiscal year. Since its inception, the Florida Lottery’s Scratch-Off portfolio has awarded over $65.5 billion in prizes, created more than 2,280 millionaires, and generated more than $19.8 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
