Detectives have nabbed one of the suspects in a puzzling home burglary in Tamarac and are looking for the second culprit.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the suspect, 38-year-old Walter Gellweiler, in hopes that someone can identify where he can be found. They already have one burglar in custody: Nicholas Gambardella, 30, of Loxahatchee.
About 9:45 a.m. May 18, Gambardella and Gellweiler were caught on the home’s surveillance system. The two men smashed the rear sliding glass door to get inside a residence in Woodmont in Tamarac. Gellweiler, who remains on the loose, went inside a bedroom and removed the empty wine bottle from the wine rack then exited the home. Gambardella appears to go briefly into the family room before leaving the home as well. Curiously, they left the wine bottle behind on the pool deck.
Gellweiler is described as being about 6 feet 4 inches tall and was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, a ball cap and brown cloth gloves. He may live in Pembroke Pines.
