The weather was glorious for this year’s National Night” event in Tamarac where residents had a chance to meet their local law enforcement officers and learn about many of the specialized units. Also on hand were our local volunteer COP and BSO Explorers who donated their time serving residents free food and drinks, directing traffic, and working the raffle table.
“I thought it was a great event. It shows the strong bond between BSO and the community,” said Tamarac Captain Neal Glassman.
Glassman was instrumental in bringing Olympic Gold Medal boxer Howard Davis Jr. and the four-year-old victim, who had his iPad stolen last week, together. Davis was recognized by Sheriff Scott Israel for his generosity at the event on Tuesday.
“It showed that even if something bad occurs, there’s always a chance that some good can come out of it. You saw in Mr. Davis someone who wanted to make a difference in the community.”
