Register Now for ‘Next Stop Broadway’ Summer Camp

Kids and teens are invited to star in their favorite films live this summer at Next Stop Broadway Summer Camp which will include four family friendly musicals: Freaky Friday, Shrek, Matilda and Chicago.

Presented by the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, this fun, theatrical-based summer camp for children and teens will keep them busy all summer long

Tamarac residents can qualify for the 10 percent early bird discount if they register by March 1, 2019.  All registrations of $99 per person are required by May 3. Sign up for all three summer sessions and get one week free.

Next Stop Broadway is the premier training center for young performers in South Florida. Established in 2002, it has been making lifelong memories for the past 17 years. Children are split into age/grade-appropriate groups, and travel to classes full of fun activities designed just for them in singing, dancing, acting, stage production arts, and more. Each session culminates in full-scale, fully designed production, in which every camper participates. 

In addition, the Coral Springs Center for the Arts offers an extended care program, lunch program, and so much more.

June 5-7 Grades 1-8

The Prequel

This 2019 Pre-Camp offers talented children three days of activities in this state-of-the-art facilities, where campers will be able to workshop audition pieces with directors, advance their training with vocal and dance classes, and perform in the 2019 Jamboree Orientation.

Show Date: Friday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m.

Hours: Wednesday & Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Extended Care: 7:30 am to 9 a.m., 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuition:  $200  (package includes optional extended care hours, preferred seating at the 2019 Jamboree, and Pizza Party Dinner on Jamboree night)

YOUTH CAMP  Grades K-8 and Ages 6-13 

Session 1

June 10-28

FREAKY FRIDAY

When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. Freaky Friday, a musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other’s shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another’s struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.

Session 2

July 1-19

SHREK

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to live on stage and promises there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

Show Date: Friday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Extended Care: 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Session 3

July 22-August 9

MATILDA

Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

Show Date: Friday, August 9, at 6:30 p.m.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Extended Care: 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuition:  $750 

TEEN THEATRE PROJECT  Grades 9+ and Ages 14+ 

This will be a complete, pre-professional experience set in an encouraging environment in which everyone participates in the entire full-scale, fully designed production. Lead by an incredible production team, the Teen Theatre Project also features industry workshops with visiting professionals, agent scouting, and more.

June 24-July 26

CHICAGO

Set in the legendary city during the roaring “jazz hot” 20s, Chicago tells the story of two rival vaudevillian murderesses locked up in Cook County Jail. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal. This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.

Show Dates: Thursday & Friday, July 25 & 26, at 7 p.m.

Hours: week 1-4 – Monday through Friday, 1 to 6 p.m.; week 5 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuition:  $1,050, with $99 down due by May 3, 2019.
