Residents are being warned to stay alert after scammers began sending unexpected communications falsely promoting City of Tamarac municipal services.
According to a Facebook post on Tuesday, the City of Tamarac has become aware of unsolicited communications targeting residents with supposed home improvement programs and other city initiatives.
The city emphasized that it does not contact residents through unsolicited phone calls regarding home improvement programs or municipal initiatives.
Officials are urging residents to be cautious before responding to unexpected advertisements, phone calls, text messages, or online messages claiming to represent the city. Residents should avoid clicking on links or providing personal, financial, or banking information unless they have verified the source.
Anyone unsure whether a program or communication is legitimately associated with the City of Tamarac is encouraged to contact the city directly or rely on the city’s official communication channels for accurate information at (954) 597-3500.
City officials said verifying information before responding can help residents avoid becoming victims of fraud and identity theft.
