Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through July 6.
This week, in the community of Weldon in Kings Point, a victim almost fell for the Grandparent’s Scam. This is where con artists targeting senior citizens use a distressed loved-one tactic. The victim almost gave $7,400 to bond out a “family member” arrested in another state, however, they became aware of the scam before delivering the cash.
Battery
7600 block of Westwood Dr – South Palm Place
On July 1, Neighbors got into a physical altercation over feces found inside the community pool. Both parties refused fire rescue on the scene.
7800 block of NW 70th Ave – Heathgate Sunflower
On July 1, the victim alleged that the suspect scratched her across the chest/neck, pulled her by her hair to force her on the ground. The suspect then placed both of his hands around her neck prohibiting her ability to breathe. The suspect then left the area. Visible marks on the victim’s chest/neck area.
4000 W Commercial Blvd – Shell Gas
On July 6, a female struck her boyfriend one time in the face. An altercation then escalated where female followed her in the Shell Gas Station where she began to strike him multiple times as he attempted to call 911 for help.
Burglary
8000 block of NW 66th Ter – Heathgate Sunflower
On July 2, the victim advised that someone forced entry into her garage and stole 2 boat motors.
6900 block of NW 76th Dr
On July 6, victim advised while she was out of town between 7/3/20 and 7/6/20 her residence was burglarized. She reported $400 was missing from her bedroom. The suspect is a male friend.
Burglary Conveyance
7000 block of NW 101st Ave – Isles of Tamarac
On July 2, the victim had someone rummage through two of his three vehicles overnight. The suspect tried to get into the third vehicle but the door could open enough to gain entry due to another vehicle being too close.
6100 block of Laurel Ln – Banyan Lakes
On July 5, the victim reported a burglary conveyance to his 2019 Chevy Silverado. A brown canvas wallet was taken from inside the vehicle that contained the victim’s credit and bank cards, and a Florida Driver License. Unable to process the vehicle for latent prints. Area canvassed for camera surveillance. No witnesses.
4600 W Commercial Blvd – Sunshine Dispute Resolution
On July 6, unknown suspects gained entry to two vehicles parked at Sunshine Dispute Resolution. A $50 bill was taken. The scene was processed.
Counterfeiting
3116 W Commercial Blvd – Winn Dixie
On July 2, two counterfeit $100 bills were tendered at the cash register.
Criminal Mischief
4800 block of NW 50th Ct. – Mainlands 3 and 4
On July 5, the windshield on a Toyota Corolla was cracked.
8000 block of Nw 96th Ter – Coral Vista
On July 3, a married couple involved in an altercation, due to lack of evidence no primary aggressor could be determined.
Domestic Disturbance
8700 block of Banyan Ct – The Estates
On June 30, allegations from a third party, that was not on the scene, of a firearm involved in a verbal argument between a husband and wife. BSO made contact with involved parties via landline and both advised it they were fine and no weapon was involved. The residence had an open front door with what appeared to be forced entry and interior was checked. No one inside the residence and no signs of physical altercation. Follow up investigations completed with no contact.
Drugs
7500 N Pine Island Road
On July 1, a vehicle stopped for traffic infractions. The passenger was found to be concealing cannabis in his pants.
Fire
8191 W Commercial Blvd – Inn Town Suites
On July 2, a 2013 silver Ford Escape was engulfed in fire at the Inn Town Suites parking lot. No injuries or foul play.
8500 block of NW 79th St – Les Jardins
On July 3, a woman turned her grill on and the propane tank exploded. Tamarac Fire successfully extinguished it. The residence did not sustain any structural damage.
4900 block of E Sabal Palm Blvd
On July 2, BSO responded to a residential fire caused by a stove to being left on.
Information
7050 N University Dr – Aldi
On July 1, the reporting person thought a customer in Aldi pulled her elderly husband’s shoulder but the video revealed that did not happen.
10200 block of NW 83rd St
On July 3, the reporting person advised he lives in the city of New York and has been receiving threats via Facebook from an old high school acquaintance who lives in the city of Tamarac, Florida.
Lost Property
5755 N University Dr – Ross
On July 2, while visiting Ross victim lost his wallet along with his belonging that was contained inside.
Missing Person
8200 block of N University Dr
On June 30, the missing person located and removed from the system. The subject did not meet the Baker Act criteria. CSPD and reporting person notified of the outcome.
Shooting/Unlawful discharge
7900 block of NW 74th Ave – Sunflower
On July 5, a 9mm round, possibly from celebratory gunfire, struck the victim’s vehicle.
Theft
8400 block of Lagos De Campo Blvd
On June 30, the victim missing package of eyeliner value $25 from the front door. Ring camera footage shows young juvenile throwing the package over the ledge. Uploaded to evidence.com.
2720 NW 55th Ct – Traffic Management Solutions
On June 29, an employee stole a spool of copper wire valued at $2,500 after he was confronted by his manager he confessed and returned the copper wire. He was terminated. Surveillance will be emailed and uploaded to evidence.com for storage.
7600 block NW 74th Ter
On July 2, the victim reported that an unknown suspect stole a package from the front door.
4121 W Commercial Blvd – Publix
On July 2, the victim left three Western Union money order receipts valued at $1,150 on the counter of the avocado section and when he returned to pick them up, the receipts were gone. The victim advised he did not want to prosecute but wanted the incident to be documented.
Trespassing
5605 Hiatus Rd – Sonny` The Car Wash
On July 2, BSO responded in reference to a subject who was making statements that he would shoot someone. He seemed to be paranoid or a frightened state.
Weapons Violations
6000 block of Shakerwood Cir – Shaker Village
On July 5, BSO responded to a verbal argument between residents of adjacent neighborhoods. Allegations of a firearm being seen.
