Take the Poll: Who Will Be Our Next Broward County Sheriff

Scott Israel or Al Lamberti: Take the Poll Below

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office covers many cities including Tamarac but what many residents don’t realize is not only do we pay for them through our city taxes, but through our county taxes as well.   If you fly, take a cruise, or have to visit the Broward County Courthouse, then you will encounter BSO and their many officers.

The head of BSO is Sheriff Al Lamberti who currently oversees a $650 million budget and 5,800 employees.  Besides Tamarac, BSO covers the following areas:  Central Broward, Cooper City, Court Services, Dania Beach, Deerfield Beach, Ft Lauderdale-Hollywood Int’l Airport, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Lauderdale Lakes, North Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Parkland, Pembroke Park, West Park, Pompano Beach, Port Everglades, Southwest Ranches, Weston and unincorporated West Broward.

In 2007, Lamberti was appointed Sheriff by then Governor Charlie Crist after Sheriff Ken Jenne was indicted on federal corruption charges. In 2008 became the first ever Republican who was elected countywide in Broward County.

This year he faces Scott Israel, the same opponent as he did in 2008. Although Israel runs as a Democrat, county election records show he was a registered Republican until 2007.

Voters decide on November 6 whether to keep Sheriff Al Lamberti or elect Scott Israel. Take the poll now to see who you will vote for.
