Tamarac Adds City-Wide Buffer Walls Starting in 2016

By: Sharon Aron Baron

Several streets in Tamarac will be getting aesthetically pleasing buffer walls as part of the City’s overall corridor study with some areas starting as soon as January 2016.

The first phase of the buffer wall project will commence on the north and south side of Commercial Boulevard between NW 64th Ave and Rock Island. The first wall will be installed in front of the Woodlands Country Club Section Two and will be 3,200 lineal feet long and run from NW 64th Ave to the edge of the residential homes where the lake begins  – before the front entrance. It will replace a partial wall that has been damaged and repaired many times.  The new wall will have a mix of wall types: 6 foot columns with fence and custom 6 foot masonry.

The second wall will be installed in front of the homes north the Woodlands along Commercial Boulevard and obscure parts of the dilapidated fencing belonging to homeowners bordering the street.  A few years ago, Podocarpus hedges were installed by the City in some parts of the wall, which requires irrigation and upkeep. This wall will be solid six foot masonry wall.

Starting in the summer of 2016, a buffer wall will start construction in front of Tamarac Lakes South. Beginning on the south side of NW 31st Ave and running through NW 25th Terrace, this will be the longest buffer wall in the city.

More walls will be installed throughout the City in future projects.  Stay posted for more news here.
