During preparations for Hurricane Irma, residents in Tamarac that have questions and aren’t sure where to turn are in luck if their commissioner happens to be District One’s Marlon Bolton.
City Commissioner Marlon Bolton has been sending e-mail bulletins to over 3,000 of his constituents since Monday keeping them informed on what is happening in the city, county and state. He also has been taking calls and volunteering to help residents hang their hurricane shutters.
“My volunteers and I continue to be willing and able to assist the residents of district 1 should they need our help to complete tasks that they are not physically able complete before the storm,” said Bolton.
On Wednesday evening, Bolton joined mayors from around the state on a conference call with Florida Governor Rick Scott where ideas were exchanged on how best to assist residents during the storm. Bolton recommends websites such as Gas Buddy to find out who which stations have gas along with real time traffic updates on Waze.com.
According to Bolton, a Hurricane watch has been issued for Broward County, meaning that hurricane conditions are expected here within 48 hours or less. He said that for anyone that is looking for shelter, to please look at the map by Broward County. Bolton said that Waste Management will operate all normally scheduled collection routes in Broward County through Friday, however, they will not be operating on Saturday.
