Tamarac Crime Update Through April 1

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac from March 26 through April 1.

Theft – Retail / Shoplifting

3915 W Commercial Blvd. CVS.

On March 26 between 01:45 p.m. and 01:52 p.m., a black female 5`7″ approx 200 pounds wearing a black and white striped dress entered the store and stole five boxes of Trojan Magnum condoms valued at $75. Store was unable to retrieve video, due to shift manager not familiar with the surveillance system.

8199 N University Dr. Walgreens.

On March 26, at 10:55 a.m., Walgreens store manager reported various cosmetic products were missing from the shelves in the cosmetic department.

8790 W McNab Rd. Walgreens.

On March 27, at 2:38 p.m., two unknown black females stole items such as lipstick off of the shelves then concealed them in their purses and exited the store.

Identity Theft

Person at Versailles Gardens contacted BSO to document the use of her deceased husband’s identity between March 25 and March 26.

Information

7500 Block of N Pine Island Rd.

On March 26, BSO spoke with a man in reference to his sister, a Tamarac resident, who he believes is abusing alcohol consumption along with her prescribed medication. They advised him of options he could utilize to get his sister the help she needed.

Auto Theft

5800 Block of Nw 57th Ct. Woodlands Meadows. On March 26, victim reported his 2016 Black Honda Accord was stolen between 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.

Burglary Business

8851 W Commercial Blvd. Pollo Tropical. At the construction site of Yagar Construction Inc., between March 25 at 6:00 p.m. and March 26 at 8:00 a.m., unknown subject(s) cut nylon fencing to gain access to construction site and broke a window on the site office.

Theft

5800 Block of Swordfish Ct.

Victim wanted to report delayed theft of an Amazon package from door way which occurred on March 9,

3800 W Commercial Blvd. La Quinta Inn.

On March 28, victim reported unknown person(s) stolen her PlayStation 4 along with one wireless game control from her room for an approximate loss of $450.00.

9090 Lime Bay Blvd. Lime Bay.

On March 31, Victim reported Certificates of Authenticity taken by movers inside her home the day prior valued at $300 each.

Fraud

8245 N Pine Island Rd, Publix.

On March 26, Victim reported fraudulent use of his credit card at Publix.

Robbery

4101 W Commercial Blvd. Bus Stop Bench.

Between 12:55 a.m. 01:42 p.m. On March 27, victim advised he was robbed while sleeping on a bus stop bench in across from 7-Eleven.

Information

6501 N University Dr, Concord Village.

On March 27, The supervisor of the clubhouse said that at approximately 10:30 p.m., he found a male and female in a bathroom and he said it appeared they were doing drugs. He said he smelled a burning smell and told them to leave and they left. He later found out that the female lives there.

9580 Building Weldon Circle. Kings Point.

On March 31, owner reported he received text messages that claimed there was someone that wanted him dead. The sender claimed they would stop any action for $5000.00 cash.

Theft – Motor Vehicle Parts

3873 W Commercial Blvd. Extended Stay America.

On March 27 unknown subject(s) removed the tailgate from the black Ford F-250 that was parked in the hotel parking lot during the overnight hours.

5100 block Island Club Dr.

Between 8:00 p.m. March 28 and 09:25 a.m. March 29, unknown suspect(s) removed all four tires and rims from victims 2016 Toyota Corolla for an approximate loss of $4,400.00.

Animal Bite

7700 Westwood Dr.

On March 27 a dog overpowered the dog-sitter during a walk and attacked the victim’s dog. Victim suffered minor injuries and the dog suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident. Animal Control was notified, aggressive dog was quarantined and photos of injuries taken.

Animal Abuse/Neglect

7640 Westwood Dr.

On March 31, Officer met with the reporting person who said the suspects left their dog in the apartment when they moved out three weeks ago.

8801 West Commercial Boulevard.

On March 27, the victim’s purse was stolen during a burglary in Sunrise. A few minutes later, $259.26 was charged on the victim’s credit card at the above location. Three more purchases were attempted and denied.

Criminal Mischief

4999 W Commercial Blvd. 7-11.

On March 27, subject engaged the employee in a verbal altercation over the sale of a food item. Subject intentionally knocked over sunglass display damaging it as she exited the business.

Burglary Conveyance

5811 N Pine Island Rd, Tamarac, FL Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

Between 7:22 p.m. and 9:38 p.m. on March 27, an unknown suspect possibly entered the vehicle, through the passenger door and stole vehicle’s registration.

9200 Block of NW 80th St.

On March 28, homeowner observed a black female juvenile inside her vehicle, which was parked in her driveway. Homeowner confronted the juvenile, who fled east toward Pine Island. A perimeter was set up, but time delay allowed the juvenile to flee out of the area. Latent prints obtained from vehicle and next door neighbor had video surveillance cameras.

4900 Block of N Travelers Palm Ln, The Woodlands Country Club.

On March 28, an unlocked vehicle was burglarized overnight with wallet taken. Latent prints were collected.

5715 White Hickory Cir. The Woodlands Country Club.

On March 31, an unknown suspect(s) tried prying the trunk of the vehicle open, but were unsuccessful.

Suspicious Incident

8200 N University Dr. Bank of America.

Between 10:50 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on March 28, a suspicious incident occurred when a white male entered the bank wearing a black ski mask and dark trench coat and all dark clothing, holding a medium sized black drawstring bag and approached the teller area.

However, when greeted by employee near that location, the male left without saying or making contact with anyone inside the bank. The male fled the area in a white unknown make vehicle, with heavy front end damage going northbound on N. University Dr. BSO robbery and FBI arrived on scene to conduct an investigation.

Aggravated Battery

5703 N. University Dr. Bus Stop.

On March 31, BSO responded to the listed location, a bus stop, after the victim was struck by a BB gun. The victim and reporting persons did not observe the suspect who shot the BB gun. Also, a nearby window of a business was shot out which was directly behind the bus stop.

Battery

9901 Nw 77th St. Tamarac Sports Complex.

On March 31, a white male age 23 was attacked by multiple unknown black males while at the basketball court at Tamarac Sports Complex.

Criminal Mischief

8399 N Pine Island Rd. Southgate Bridge in the City Of Tamarac.

On March 31, unknown subject(s) spray painted bridge.

Knight, Quentin Anthony, 27, arrested on charges of Failing To Register Motor Vehicle at 7598 Bailey Rd/Courtside Blvd on 03/29/2019.

Bretas, Stephanie Castro, 27, arrested on charges of Vehicle Theft-grand Theft Of Motor Vehicle at 5000 N. Sr 7 on 03/30/2019.

Bretas, Stephanie Castro. 27, arrested on charges of DUI Alcohol Or Drugs 1st Offense at 5000 W Commercial Blvd on 03/30/2019.

Hoyos Restrepo, Luis Carlos, 47, arrested on charges of Larcany-grand Theft 300 Less Than 5k Dols at 8070 Nob Hill Rdon 03/30/2019.

Anderson, Nikolus Elisha, 24 arrested on charges of Aggravated Battery W/deadly Weapon Domestic Viol at 8191 W Commercial Blvd on 03/31/2019.

Cunningham, Duane Abdul, 45, arrested on charges of Violating Pre Trial Release-Assault Person 65 Years or Older at 8191 W Commercial Blvd on 03/30/201

Parrillo, Jack David, 55, arrested on charges of Grand Theft 3rd Degree at 7901 W Commercial Blvd 04/01/2019.
