Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through February 24.
Auto Theft
8040 Nob Hill Rd – Saint Andrews
On February 20, BSO responded out to document a delayed, stolen vehicle. The victim reported her vehicle was taken after being contacted by Coral Springs Police regarding her vehicle being involved in a hit/run. Victim waited the next day to file the report. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was used in a robbery in the city of Margate on the same night as the hit/run. He was g.o.a. But used a Florida I.D., which they had a copy of.
Battery
6300 block of N University Dr.
On February 18, a couple got into a physical altercation, and the offender stole a fire extinguisher then later used it to break Lyft driver’s windshield. The offender was taken into custody and transported to BSO Main Jail.
Burglary Residence
7300 block of NW 65th St.
On February 20, the residence appears to have been burglarized, the residence upon arrival was ransacked, and there were signs of forced entry through the front window next to the front door.
Dog Bite
7200 N University Dr.
On February 23, two dogs got into a fight, and owners attempted to break up the fight, and one owner was a bit on his right hand. Animal Bite reports were completed on both dogs.
Burglary Conveyance
4700 block of NW 59th St. – Central Park
On February 19, a resident said that their black 2014 Mazda 6 bearing Florida tag EQVY10 by unknown means and burglarized. $21 was taken from the glove box by the suspect(s).

On February 18, unknown suspects stole a wallet, cash, and debit cards from an unlocked vehicle.
8100 block of NW 66th Ter.
On February 20. The unknown individual entered two unlocked vehicles in the victim’s driveway and removed small misc tools and a Bluetooth speaker.
4900 block of NW 57th St.
Between February 22 and 23, an unknown person burglarized the victim’s car and stole her purse that was on the rear seat.
Criminal Mischief
7800 of NW 71st St.
On February 20, Suspect only known as Jeff, who came by the residence and damaged a gold Nissan by hitting the windshield and side mirror, with an unknown object and left the area in an unnamed large black SUV. There was a b/m in the front passenger seat, who could not be identified.
Domestic Battery by Strangulation
5700 block of NW 47th Ave.
On February 19, BSO investigated allegations of boyfriend strangulating girlfriend in her home. NIC for DV Battery-Strangulation was issued for the defendant, who was not at the scene.
Domestic Disturbance
2507 Nw 55th St.
On February 21, Caller advised her mother needed medical assistance due to domestic violence.
Driving Under The Influence
4100 W Commercial Blvd
Between February 22 and 23, Ervin Smith struck two vehicles while he was driving his Lincoln Town Car impaired on the roadway. A passenger in one of the struck vehicles was transported to a hospital for knee injuries. Smith refused DUI exercises. Smith resisted lawful arrest by pulling his arms away and tucking them to his chest. Smith sustained an abrasion to his right cheek as he was directed to the pavement during the arrest. Smith provided valid breath tests of .173 and .165 at the BSO Breath Test Facility. Smith was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for clearance and then to the BSO Main Jail.
Fire
7765 Nw 57th St. – Midway Plaza
On February 23, caller advised while driving his vehicle he observed black smoke coming from the hood. The caller stated he parked his vehicle and noticed fire coming from the engine and called 911. Lauderhill Fire Rescue was on scene and extinguished the fire without incident.
Fraud-All Other
7100 block of NW 77th St.
On February 18, a victim from Tampa advised an unknown obtained his social security number and changed his business address to an address in Tamarac.
Narcotics
7104 N University Dr – Aldi’s
On February 19, narcotics K-9 alerted to a vehicle parked in Aldi’s parking lot. Cannabis seized.
Information
8050 W McNab Rd. – Concord Village
On February 19, the front door was forced before arrival. Cleared interior and made notifications about sever black mold inside the unit. Front door secured by HOA’s property maintenance. Exposure form completed. Information
6800 N Pine Island Rd
On February 18, BSO made contact with the complainant about a construction worker who allegedly punched her vehicle’s right side mirror when she drove into the construction site blocked off with orange cones.
2300 block of Nw 55th St. – Boulevard of Tamarac
Between January 12 and February 19, the caller stated his friend was stopped by the police in Miami and provided his information to the police. He received three citations under his name.
4197 W Commercial Blvd – Marshalls
On February 20, unknown suspect(s)stolen the victim’s wallet from her shopping cart while she was shopping at the store. The approximate loss is $31.
Found Property
8245 N Pine Island Rd
On February 20, A J.P. Taravella High School student approached a BSO officer and gave them a Visa debit card he had found on the ground in the parking lot. It was subsequently returned to the owner.
Property Damage
5700 block of NW 60th Ave
On February 17, the complainant advised her decal was stolen off her vehicle.
Recovered Auto – Arbor Keys
On February 18, while on covert patrol, BSO observed an older model black four-door Nissan Altima. An FCIC/ NCIC query revealed that the tag was stolen out of Tamarac. A felony traffic stop was initiated, which later revealed that the vehicle VIN was reported stolen out of North Lauderdale. Latent Prints collected. Saint Charles, Tyric, was arrested for Vehicle Theft- Grand Theft.
Retail Shoplifting Theft
3915 W Commercial Blvd – CVS
On February 18, a male adult subject stole bags of tide pods while a black female adult accomplice stole magnum condoms. The male ran on foot across Commercial Blvd., and the female casually walked outside, got in her vehicle, and picked up the male subject on the roadway.
5837 N University Dr. – Beall’s Outlet
On February 10, two unknown subjects passed all points of sale & exit the store with clothing, handbags, and a laundry basket and entered into a blue 4-door vehicle (unknown model/tag) that was waiting outside. Bealls Outlet Loss Prevention Manager advised the subjects stole a total of $249.83 of merchandise.
5881 N University Dr. – Publix
On February 19, a male subject wearing a white jacket entered the store and left with three cans of wine, without paying.
3914 W Commercial Blvd – Walgreen’s
On February 20, a male and female entered the store and stole pampers and beer.
Theft
4500 block of NW 16th Ter.
On February 21, an unknown suspect stole two packages from the victim’s front door.
9500 block of Weldon Cir.
On January 27, reported February 18, the victim wanted to report the theft of car keys and a wallet by a known subject.
7600 block of Westwood Dr,
On February 20, the suspect stole the victim’s Amazon package from her front door.
7600 block of Westwood Dr, – Westwood
On February 20, Tamarac, FL, an iPhone 11, was taken off the victim’s back porch by unknown suspects.
8700 block of Azalea Ct
On February 18, The victim had checks stolen from her in Jacksonville, and the day before, a male suspect tried to cash one of her checks at the Check Cashing Store. They did not cash the check.
Threats
8199 N University Dr – Walgreen’s
On February 23, BSO responded to the above-listed address, about threats from a male and female that they would return to the store during closing time, and shoot the manager and store clerk.
