Tamarac Crime Update Through April 14

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through April 14.

Aggravated Battery

7500 Block of Black Olive Ave. Woodmont

On April 12, officers investigated a female victim, 20, who alleged boyfriend hit her.  She sustained a broken nose and a contusion to the left orbital area. According to the report, the boyfriend held the victim against her will and refused to let her leave.  Male was arrested.

Assault

4971 N. Sr 7. Boost Mobile Store

On April 11, while engaging in heated verbal exchange with two hostile customers, the Boost Mobil Store Mgr obtained and held a very small hand held taser from under register. Both aggressive females wanted to pursue charges against him, but investigation did not reveal any criminality.

Auto Theft

7801 S Colony Cir. Versailles Gardens

On April 11, the victim, 43, returned to his vehicle to find signs of an attempt to steal the vehicle and burglary conveyance-attempt of his other vehicle.

Battery 

5825 N. University Drive. Citibank

On April 9. A 47 male victim reported a battery occurred.  There was no arrest due to waiver of prosecution being signed on scene.

Burglary Business

6852 N University Dr. The Tire Choice

On April 9, a black male driving white Ford Van FL-ATI-A75 stole an unknown amount of used tires (4 confirmed) valued at $25.00 per tire. Fled northbound on N. University Dr.

Burglary Conveyance

29 Canterbury Ln. Shaker Village Condos

On April 10, officers met with female victim, 33, one month after incident about an unknown subject who entered her rental vehicle and removed a TD Banking folder from an account she just opened up that day. Her account was accessed and money removed.

5881 N University Dr. Publix

On April 11, suspect used a center punch on passenger rear window. After three failed on the front passenger window, nothing was taken from the vehicle according to the owner. Area canvass conducted and no witnesses could be located. There was video surveillance from Publix, but the suspect vehicle approached from the east side of parking lot and parked next to the victim’s vehicle and then exited toward the east. The suspect vehicle is a dark 4 door unknown make hatchback.

8300 block of Black Olive Dr. Woodmont

On April 12, suspects were loitering and prowling in the area driving a white Hyundai Sonata (FL Tag#0362VJ). A search performed to the vehicle, incident to arrest, reveled various electronics (phones, tablets, GPS), a black purse, gloves, beanies, two empty bullet casings in a small bag, and an empty gun holster. Suspects were transported to the Broward County Juvenile.

8161 N University Dr.

On April 12, an unknown suspect opened the unlocked door of the victim’s vehicle and dumped all of the contents of the glove box out and ransacked the car, but didn’t take anything.

Tamarac Sports Park

On April 14, between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) smashed the driver side rear window of the victim’s vehicle and made entry. Once inside the suspect(s) removed the victims backpack which contained several items of value. The scene was processed with negative results.

7701 Bailey Rd. Star of David Memorial

On April 11, couple reported that wife’s purse was taken from their white Toyota while at the above location. Victim stated they left their car on and unlocked while they visited their deceased family. Husband advised he observed two black males in a gray “Japanese” 4-door vehicle near their vehicle.  He said one male was kneeling down near the front passenger door where her purse was located in the front passenger floorboard. The staff stated there are exterior surveillance cameras, however the cameras only point to the front of the doors. Scene was processed the vehicle for latent prints.

Criminal Mischief

8500 Block of Nw 80th St. Woodmont

Between April 4 and April 9, a window was broken. No known suspects.

Fraud

7001 W Commercial Blvd. TD Bank

On April 12, victim reported unknown suspect(s) withdrew money and cashed a check against the her bank account.

6899 N University Dr, PNC Bank

On April 15, Victim: Iberia Bank / Miami Lakes Florida Branch. A fraudulent check for $8,204.62 was deposited and cleared into a personal PNC Bank account.

6187 Laurel Ln. Shaker Village

Reported on April 11, however, crime occurred either February 26 or 27th.  A 76-year-old female was scammed out of $11,340.00 dollars via a computer scam.

Information

7800 Block of  Dixie Beach Cir.

On April 12, an officer was conducting an investigation in reference to domestic violence in presence of a minor. Two people were involved in a domestic violence case that was cleared by arrest. No crime against the juvenile was committed.

Lost Property

5600 Block of  Rock Island Rd. Sun Vista Condos

On April 8, the reporting person lost his phone at the residence, but had believed his ex-girlfriend had taken it.

Theft

6400 Block of W Pinehurst Cir. Wedgewood

On April 14, resident reported that his large ceramic frog plant pot and a large ceramic bird feeder were stolen from his front lawn overnight

5900 Block of  NW 64th Ave.

On April 10, Unknown person removed the victim’s decal from his license plate.

6300 Block Landings Way. The Landings Community

On April 9,  the victim, 31 male, called to report a female he brought home to spend the night took two watches and a TV.  Female left with three other unknown males in Mercedes and fled the area. Total value of the two watches and TV are about $600.00.

5074 Island Club Dr. Kirk Hassock Fiber and K-pat Fiber

Between April 4, and April 10, former employee stole construction equipment.

2420 W Commercial Blvd. Broward County Transit

On April 11, subject entered the bus refusing to pay the fare and physically engaged the bus driver in a fight and made threats to cause bodily harm. Subject was taken into custody and transported to the main jail without incident.

8191 W Commercial Blvd. Inn Town Suites

A victim left her purse on a bench to the rear of the hotel on April 11, at 10:15 p.m. When she returned at 10:30 p.m., her purse was gone.

5803 Nw 94th Ave, Millennium Middle School

On April 12, a student reported that his iPhone 7 was stolen from his backpack inside the school between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. A search of the classroom was conducted with negative results.

3873 W Commercial Blvd. Extended Stay America

On April 11, an unknown subject removed the victims license plate and decal from his vehicle.

10501 Nw 83rd St. Westwood 24.

On April 12, a resident reported that the decal was removed from his car by an unknown person.

Theft – Retail / Shoplifting

8199 N University Dr. Walgreens

On April 12, two black females entered the business and went directly to the false eyelash section at the rear of the business. The females can be seen placing the items inside bags that they are carrying, before moving to the front of the store, where they took more false lashes before leaving the business. The females were seen leaving in a dark colored 4 door vehicle parked at the front. Video surveillance footage obtained, along with itemized bill of items that were stolen, after audit was conducted.

8000 Block of Nw 83rd Terrace.  Woodmont.

On April 12, someone used victim’s identify to attempt to order $4,000 dollars` worth of equipment.

2500 Block of NW 53rd St

On April 11, victim was scammed into buying $1,900 dollars worth of gift cards.

5700 Block of NW 54th Ln.On April 13, reporting person stated her neighbor was walking her dogs in front of her house when there was a verbal exchange about the dogs and being on her property. Victim stated neighbor’s boyfriend threatened to shoot her.

Drugs / Narcotics Offenses

7952 Nob Hill Rd. Kings Point.

On April 13, subject was found sleeping in the men’s room at the clubhouse by the maintenance man. Records check revealed a warrant that was confirmed. Subject was also found to be in possession of cannabis.

Arrests

Barakat, Russell G. 79-year-old male was arrested on charges of Damage Prop-crime Misch-over 200 Dollars Under 1000 Dollars (M), at 7653 Nw 79th Av, Tamarac, on 04/09/2019.

Troy, Aaron Phillip 42-year-old male was arrested on charges of Larc-20k Dols.

Flemming, Destin Malik Osei, 24-year-old male, was arrested on charges of Battery-on Officer Firefighter Emt Etc, at 2420 W. Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 04/11/2019.

Berroa Baez, Daniel Alberto, 22-year-old male was arrest on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/dating Viol and Agg Battery Cause Bodily Harm/Dating Viol at 7500 block of Black Olive Av, Tamarac, on 04/12/2019.

Moment, Joseph, 57-year-old male was arrested on charges of warrant at 2250 Nw 52nd Ct, Tamarac, on 04/12/2019.

Hemeke, Victoria Joy, 37-year-old female was arrested on charges of Agg Battery W/deadly Weap Dating Viol at 6401 W. Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 04/13/2019.

Dominguez Acosta, Ricardo, 33-year-old male was arrested on charges of Carrying Concealed Weapon-firearm at 7000 N. University Dr, Tamarac, on 04/14/2019.

Butler, Princess Julia Mae 19-year-old female was arrested on charges of Criminal Mischief at 2250 Nw 52nd Ct, Tamarac, on 04/15/2019.
