Tamarac Crime Update Through May 13

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through May 13.

Aggravated Battery

7800 block of Fairview Dr. Versailles Gardens

On May 8, a physical altercation between neighbors occurred. No serious injuries sustained. All parties claiming self-defense from the other. Unable to determine the primary aggressor. Not-In-Custody submitted for criminal mischief against one of the parties involved.

800o block of W McNab Rd.

On May 12, the victim said that the driver of a black Chevy Suburban attacked him after their cars collided. He was followed by the driver of the Chevy and rammed in the back of his Camry.

Auto Theft

5900 block N Pine Island Rd,

On May 8, BSO responded to a delayed call of an auto theft of a 2019 Honda accord

3101 W Commercial Blvd. 7-Eleven

Between May 7 and May 8, a man took the victim’s vehicle while it was left running in front of a business. The subject was initially the passenger of the vehicle. An affidavit signed by the owner.

5900 block of  Abbey Rd. Hampton Hills

Between May 8 and May 9, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle from his driveway overnight.

7050 N University Dr. ALDI

On May 11, the victim’s Infinity Q50 was stolen by unknown suspect(s) from the parking lot of ALDI. The vehicle was last seen Sunday, May 5, 2019.

8000 block of NW 96th Ter. Coral Vista

On May 13, the victim advised BSO that an unknown person(s) stole his 2017 Nissan Maxima SR Midnight Edition from the parking lot of his home.

Burglary Business

2860 NW 55th Ct. Mim Service

On May 11, a roadway striping machine was taken from a red van which was only used for storage.

Burglary Conveyance

7400 block of NW 85th Ct. Southgate Gardens Apartments

On May 8, a witness observed the defendant pull on a door handle of a black vehicle and later walk towards a white Honda CRV where he made entry. The witness recorded the incident and confronted the defendant. The defendant was later detained and interviewed by a detective and Joseph Olaya was arrested for Burglary Conveyance.

6000 block of N Sabal Palm Blvd

On May 12 and reported May 13, unknown suspect(s) smashed out front passenger side windows to three vehicles parked in the same parking lot.

4900 block of E Sabal Palm Blvd,

Between May 12 and May 13, an Unknown suspect(s) smashed out the driver’s side front window to the vehicle. The driver was missing a few music CDs from the center console.

Theft – Retail / Shoplifting

3915 W Commercial Blvd. CVS

On May 7, three black females entered the store and walked out with air fresheners and blood pressure machines without paying for a total of $672.93

4021 W Commercial Blvd. Old Time Pottery

On May 8, an unidentified black male and black female loaded up a shopping cart and shopping bags with towels/sheets/comforter sets and proceeded to leave the store without making an attempt to pay. The subjects left the parking lot in a newer model Red Lexus SUV.

Burglary Residence

7200 block of S Devon Dr.

On May 7, BSO responded to a delayed burglary on a second-floor condominium.

7900 block of NW 60th St.

On May 7, BSO responded to the listed address in reference to an alarm call which later evolved into a burglary of a residence.

4600 block of NW 47th St. Mainlands 1

On May 8, an unknown male subject, who claimed to be a plumber for the community checking water pressure, took a Canadian passport from the homeowner’s purse which was in the master bedroom.

6000 block of NW 78th St.

On May 9, an unknown person(s) entered the back yard of the property through an unlocked fence and broke two glass window panes on the east side of the home in an attempt commit a burglary.

6800 block of  Southgate Blvd. Mission Lakes Apartments

On May 10, unknown suspect(s) made entry to the residence taking $4,000 in cash located inside a sweater. In addition, jewelry and watches were stolen. No signs of forced entry. Latent prints collected

Domestic Disturbance

7200 block of NW 92nd Ave.

On May 9, a verbal dispute was between to people. One person is on house arrest and is expected to visit the Henderson Mental Health Center for treatment and did not appear to be a threat to himself or others. All parties involved stated that the incident was verbal.

Information

4900 W Commercial Blvd.

On May 8, a boom lift was overturned as the driver was making a U-turn on W. Commercial Blvd.

7700 block of NW 78th Ave.

On May 8, FPL workers got into an argument with a resident. The resident returned with what appeared to be a concealed pistol. The workers were not threatened and did not feel threatened.

7900 block of N Colony Cir. Versailles Gardens

On May 9, residents advised are having issues with their mailbox since February. They reported it to the US postal inspectors.

7600 block of Westwood Dr.

On May 9, an unknown suspect(s) contacted Capital One Credit Card Company and had the victim’s address changed to a location in Miramar, Florida. The suspect(s) had a new credit card sent to the address. The suspect(s) later charged a total of $1,492.22 in Miramar and two locations in Miami.

6200 block of Nob Hill Rd.

On May 9,  the reporting person advised that she needed to make a report to so her company can get a refund from eBay.

7400 block of NW 58th St. Mainlands 9

On May 9, BSO Attempted contact with the suspect who allegedly made threats via phone to VA in Miami.

7800 block of NW 74th Ave. Sunflower/Heathgate

On May 10, the resident observed smoke coming from the neighbor’s house and notified fire rescue. A small A.C unit was located on fire at the rear of the residence. The owner was not inside and was unable to locate.

Lost Property

5800 block of Mulberry Dr. The Woodlands

On May 9, BSO met with the resident who advised she misplaced/lost her Hydrocodone prescription of 120 pills in her home and advised she has looked everywhere but cannot find them.

5000 block of Mango Cir.

On May 13, complainant advised he left his iPhone X in an Uber last Wednesday.

Missing Person

6600 block of NW 76th St.

On May 9, the reporting person advised that her son, who is a habitual runaway, has been missing since the day before.

5600 block of Rock Island Rd. Sun Vista

On May 10, BSO responded to document a missing person. It was later revealed that the missing person was out hanging with friends and later returned home.

7200 block of  N University Dr.

On May 13, the reporting person was transporting the brother, missing person, to the hospital for voluntary evaluation. Upon arrival, the brother fled the area. Area check conducted with negative results.

Property Damage

4100 block of Lakeside Dr. Lakeside Condos

The homeowner’s rear sliding glass door was shattered, possibly by lawn maintenance during the day.

8000 block of NW 71st Ct.

On May 8, landlord and tenant disagreement. The landlord claims the tenant did not pay rent and battered him. Tenant stated the landlord will not provide receipts and acted in self-defense regarding the battery.

Recovered Auto

8474 NW 61st St.

On May 11, a GPS tracking company tracked a stolen car to a parking lot in Tamarac. It was unoccupied and recovered.

Suspicious Incident

6200 block of NW 57th St. Bermuda Club

On May 9, an unknown black male mid-20s had picked up a package from an unknown location in a 55+ community and a resident took a photo of the male and sent it to the property manager.

Theft-All Other

2600 block of NW 49th Ct.

Between May 7 and May 8, an unknown person(s) removed the victim’s purse from her residence.

5751 Madison Av. Ems Site Development

Between May 2 and May 8, an employee of a construction company was to return to work with company equipment, but he never came back.

3800 block of NW 49th St.

On May 8, a resident is alleging that a Tow Max tow truck driver removed a bottle of Percocet (180 Pills) and $200 from the center console of his vehicle after it was towed.

4700 block of W Commercial Blvd

Reported May 9, it was reported that an ex-employee stole four money orders from the workplace between February 1 and February 28.

4400 block of Treehouse Ln.

On May 13,  a resident reported that an unknown person removed the decal from her vehicle license plate.

8109 NW 58th Pl.

On May 13, a Domino’s driver advised that the subject took pizza without paying for it.

Arrests

Williams, Diondra Jarquist, 28 was arrest on charges of battery-commit domestic battery by strangulation, at 5500 Nw 31st Ave, Tamarac, on 05/07/2019.

Olaya, Joseph Michael,  41, arrested on charges of burglary-conveyance unoccupied/unarmed at 7420 Nw 85th Ct, Tamarac, on 05/08/2019.

Rutherford Jr, David M.,26, arrested on charges of robbery-no firearm or weapon at N. SR7 W. Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 05/10/2019.

Pierce, Juan, 61, was arrested on charges of the warrant at 4980 N. Sr 7, Tamarac, on 05/11/2019.

Fulton, Antwon Demorris, 35, was arrested on charges of warrant-writ of bodily attachment at 88 Pleasant Hill Ln, Tamarac, on 05/11/2019.

Williams, Damion Juvon, 37, was arrested on charges of damage prop-criminal mischief less than $200 and under at 7825 Fairview Dr, Tamarac, on 05/12/2019.

Clay, Eamonn Francis, 31, was arrested on charges of DUI alcohol or drugs 1st offense at 4700 W. Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 05/12/2019.
