At the age of 39, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., a Baptist minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner who championed civil rights and justice through non-violent means, was assassinated on April 4, 1968. He would have been 89 on January 15.
Join the City of Tamarac to celebrate one of our country’s greatest civil rights leaders, the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
This event will feature a presentation from motivational speaker and Grammy nominee SaulPaul.
“SaulPaul’s inspirational performance is the perfect addition to our celebration of one of the country’s greatest civil rights leaders,” said Tamarac’s Parks and Recreation Director Greg Warner in a promotional paid release to Newswire.
A musician with a message, SaulPaul is known for using his platform to promote social good and to advocate for youth. He has conducted two TEDx talks, had two hit singles reach number one on Sirius XM and performed on America’s Got Talent as well as at some of the world’s most esteemed music festivals.
In addition to SaulPaul’s keynote presentation, the event will include a dance performance by Ashanti Cultural Arts and a reception featuring the artwork of Challenger Elementary and Renaissance Charter students.
The free event will be held at the Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd., Friday, January 18, at 6 pm.
