The City of Tamarac has once again made Forbes list of the 25 Best Suburbs to retire.
How did they come up with their findings? They chose places that were at least 35 miles or less from a major downtown area and towns with median home values of $333,333 or less. Forbes stated that the average median home price for the places on this list is $222,000.
According to Forbes Tamarac is a “sunny suburb of 63,000 on the edge of the Everglades 13 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale. PROS: Median home price $128,000, cost of living 1% below national average. Mass transit to big city. Good climate, above-average air quality. Decent economy. Local hospital.” The median home price is $128,000 if you want to live in a condo, however, if you want a single family detached home, that’s an average of $236,894 according to City-data.com.
Although Tamarac’s median age has decreased over the years to 47.1, it is still known as a retirement community mainly because of it’s affordable housing and it’s desirable retirement communities around the City.
