A verbal argument between brothers led to a Tamarac man being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after pointing a gun during the dispute.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute call on February 11 at the 7800 block of Nw 71st Court. Once they arrived, a victim at the residence told deputies that his brother, Moussa Alkhakaji, 27, had threatened him with a gun during a dispute.

Family members described a heated argument that almost turned deadly as Moussa removed a firearm from his waistband, racked the slide, and pointed it at his brother’s face.

According to the report, the victim’s father was able to take the gun away from Alkhakaji before the situation became any worse, allowing the victim to escape the home and call 911.

Once deputies arrived, Alkhakaji claimed he had placed his gun, a Glock 22, in his vehicle, perhaps in an attempt to hide it.

Alkhakaji was placed under arrest and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. He was later released on a $3,500 bond.
