Tamarac Resident Julie Shapiro-Harris hopes the second time is the charm as she makes a bid for Circuit Court judge.
She ran in 2012 and lost by less than three percentage points against Michael Rothschild.
Shapiro-Harris was born and raised in South Florida and graduated from Emory University with a B.A. in Psychology and Music. She also received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida State University. After graduating from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1995, she was admitted to the Florida Bar that same year. For the last 10 years, she has worked as a staff attorney for the Broward County Clerk of Court Domestic Violence Unit, where she is part of a division that seeks to protect victims of domestic violence.
“I am running for judge to continue my service to the people of Broward County,” said Shapiro-Harris. “A judge is, in fact, a public servant, and serving my community is the highest calling that I know.”
Her interests outside the courthouse involve aiding others as well, where she currently serves as a board member of the Tamarac Kiwanis, an international service organization.
Shapiro-Harris wants her supporters to know that she is the best candidate because she respects the law and the fairness that applying the law requires.
