Tamarac’s Latest Crime and Arrests Through May 3

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through May 3, 2021.

Aggravated Assault

S Nob Hill Circle

On April 30, a suspect went after people with a knife that he had invited to his residence. No one was stabbed, but one victim was superficially cut on the finger while dealing with the suspect. Delta unit advised, and calls were made. None of the victims wanted to press charges or give sworn statements about the incident. 

Auto Theft

NW 64th Ave

On April 30, a vehicle was stolen from the parking lot. Tot. Est. Loss: $90. 

W Commercial Blvd

On April 30, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle from the parking lot at the above address. Video shows that it was a black tow truck with a picture of an Eagle on the door. 

Battery

W Commercial Blvd

On April 27, a physical altercation between four people living at the hotel. All parties declined prosecution. 

W Commercial Blvd – Inn Town Suites

On April 27, the victim reported her live-in boyfriend and herself were involved in a domestic altercation where he pushed her face into the wall. The victim and offender have three children together who witnessed the altercation. 

7201 N University Drive

On April 30, a hospital security guard was punched in the face by a Baker Act patient who was unruly. 

Rock Island Rd

On May 1, while investigating a domestic disturbance call, a suspect committed a battery against a law enforcement officer by unlawfully touching them during his investigation.

Burglary

NW 79th Ave

On April 28, a residential burglary occurred where the garage door was left open while no one was home. A toolbox containing several miscellaneous tools, a yeti cooler bag, and a yeti cooler was stolen. Tot. Est. Loss: $2,150.

Burglary Conveyance

NW 48th Ave

On April 29, BSO met with the caller, who advised an unknown subject entered her white 2015 Nissan Murano via an unlocked door. Once inside, the unknown subject removed two pairs of prescription sunglasses valued at $700 ($350 each). Tot. Est. Loss: $700. 

NW 58th St

On May 1, the victim reported that an unknown person entered her unlocked Hyundai Santa Fe and stole her black sunglasses. Tot. Est. Loss: $40. 

Fire

8200 block of NW 100th Way

On April 28, a 2000 Honda Accord began to smoke once the owner arrived at the above location. After turning off the vehicle, he noticed a large amount of smoke and flames coming from the vehicle’s hood. Tamarac Fire Rescue responded. 

Fraud

On April 26, The caller stated the company notified her about an unknown person trying to withdraw $1,000 from her account. The bank froze the account and until the caller brought proper identification to the branch.  Tot. Est. Loss: $5,356.

7400 block of W McNab Rd

On April 28, a woman filed a police report after getting burned by hot tea at Dunkin Donuts. 

3999 W Commercial Blvd/n State Road 7

On April 29, a traffic accident was reported between a scooter and a pedestrian crossing the street via the median. 

Theft

NW 73rd Ter

On April 27,  an unknown suspect stole a package from the victim`s front door. Tot. Est. Loss: $1,173. 

Lakeside Dr

On April 29, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s package from his mailbox. Tot. Est. Loss: $300. 

Trespassing

5710 N University Dr – Denny’s

On April 30, the general manager of Denny`s wanted to trespass a white male customer who was causing a disturbance in the restaurant. 

401 N State Road 7 – Lakeside Plaza 

On April 30, the defendant was previously given a trespass warning from the above location. Deputies made contact with the individual about a drunk individual selling drugs behind the plaza. A routine FCIC/NCIC check was conducted, which revealed the trespass warning under the subject`s information. The defendant was placed into custody and transported to BSO Main Jail for booking.

Ortiz, Moses Angel (W M, 41) was arrested on Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol charges at W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 04/27/2021. 

Polite, Gerard (B M, 63) was arrested on Battery On People Over 65 charges at 82nd Ter, Tamarac, on 04/29/2021. 

Rosales, Alfredo (W M, 27) was arrested on charges of Cnt:1 Petit Theft $100- $300 No Bond at 4121 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 04/29/2021. 

Osborn, Trevor (W M, 25) was arrested on charges of Battery-cause Bodily Harm at N University Dr, Tamarac, on 04/30/2021. 

Sierra Chavez, Harold Brando (W M, 24) was arrested on charges of Trespassing-after Warning-structure Or Conveyance at 5401 N State Road 7, Tamarac, on 04/30/2021. 

Jones, Paigg Rashad (B F, 25) was arrested on charges of Battery-on Officer Firefighter Emt at Rock Island Rd, Tamarac, on 05/01/2021. 

Capron, Lionel Leovanchi (B M, 32) was arrested on charges of Warrant Purge Amount $1500 at 3900 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 05/01/2021.
